LOL ...
2 can play that game

Lets see... when the going gets tough...

Career Playoff Numbers

Marchand 25 GP 19 Pts 0.76 pts/game
Filppula 86 GP 49 Pts 0.57 pts /game
Frolik 7 GP 5 Pts 0.71 pts/game

And then....

Raymond 46 GP 15 Pts 0.33 pts/game

wut...

Henrik .73

We should trade Henrik for Marchand

wut

lol during the Nashville series and the Boston series, I actually would have preferred Marchand over Henrik.

All jokes aside, we shouldnt do that trade because we are trying to win the cup and we need good playoff performers (Which Raymond isn't)

Henrik 22pts in 25 games last playoffs last year and 14 pts in 12 games the year before.

So are you really telling me you would prefer Raymond in the playoffs over Marchand, Fippula and Frolik?
Because that's essentially what you are telling me by comparing those 3 players to Raymond

Raymond is a good player, I just don't think he gels with the other players on this team. So we need to either move him or other teammates; he would be much better served on a different team, Pittsburgh to be specific.

People would freak out and call for Gillis' head if Raymond went there only to see sweet Crosby passes turn him into the 35g guy everyone thought he was gonna be here. Context will be thrown out the window.

Kassian.... Taylor Pyatt 3.0

Lies. He's more of a Steve Bernier. Hopefully his talent level goes up so he can become like a Taylor Pyatt.

MayRay could very well end up being a 25 goal scorer on another team with a great passing linemate.

I just dont see it happening on the Canucks as he is too soft along the boards for 1st with the Sedins, and he doesnt gel with Kes on the second line (both shoot first)

We would have to trade Kesler for Thornton and have Jumbo Joe feeding Raymond passes to achieve Raymond's 25 goals and we arent going to do that.

Ray may get the sense that fans are clamouring to trade Raymond... doesn't mean it'll actually happen without good reason. And what player are you going to acquire for him who can also do the same things at the same or similar salary?

You make good points but Ray is working in the business and is in the rinks and talking with the players/mgmt..
He has more of a sense of what is occurring on the inside than 99.99% of all of us sitting at computers in front of tv screens.
Vancouver has to shed salary may mean his salary is one that could be used to acquire grit, depth, whatever.
Those are the reasons and Ray has credibility.

I won't disagree that Ray is knowledgeable about the Canucks... but why do we have to shed salary? I don't get it.

If a trade is to be done salary has to be shed and players have to be offered up to shed salary and make it work.

With one goal in January and one goal in February playing on the second line of the top contending team in the league it is not incomprehensible that it is Raymond's salary that may have to be shed in any exchange.

Actually,he is the one player that is mentioned all the time in Vancouver hockey circles, not just CDC.

Truthfully Id like him to remain a Canuck, but I think in that case hes gotta put the puck in the net like weve seen him do in the past.

Kind of frustrating watching him play ineffective hockey for lengthly stretches when we know hes capable of more.

I Myself do not believe We need Raymond any Longer,
With a More abrasive Booth in the Line up wh is more effective.

When he is healthy, I would like to see Bitz take His spot ( depending on opponent and Game, and alternate with Burrows)

I would sit Raymond in more Physical games , and keep Weise on the 4th
These guys are not anchors and have skill

They dont need to beat up the Lucic,Chara type players
Just stand up to them, and take them off of the ice for 5 min !

These type of Players will be more effective, and welcome to their Teamates come the Playoffs

If You cant get anything in a package with Raymond (As in Abrasive skilled Dman) Take the Draft picks , or just sit Raymond in anticpacted Physical games (usually entire playoffs), where He is ineffective

The team should stop playing Raymond to avoid his trade value going way, way down. No team will take him if they see him plays.

Nice to know that once ever 20 games Mason Raymond will make an appearance
Not enough if the Canucks want consistent 2ndary scoring IMO

Only because no one has the balls to mention his equally underachieving linemate Kesler, who incidently was on the bench when the 2nd line scored tonight. He was replaced by Hodgeson.Maybe AV will use his brain a bit more and move Kesler off the 2nd line more often.

I actually like Raymond. Yeah he has no finish but his speed opens up the ice for his linemates. He's also sound defensively, backchecks hard.

Mason played well tonight.

6 goals in 36 games and two goals since December.

Let's hope he attracted enough attention for a d man in return.

It's also important to keep in mind that he falls over so much because he had no time to bulk up in the offseason due to recovering from that horrific back injury.

OK everyone. Let's change the focus of this thread.

Let's only talk about the good things he does from this point on so that other NHL scouts read this before Monday and convince the other GM to pull the trigger on the deal that gets us a D-man ::D

MayRay made a great pass today that almost set up a goal.

Also, too bad his shot got tipped/blocked in the 3rd (or OT?) because that was heading for the twine.

That whole line was a non-factor tonight. I say put Higgins back with Kesler and Booth, they work best together. Put Raymond on the 3rd line instead. I'd be surprised if anybody wanted to take him at the deadline, his value isn't exactly sky high right now... but I do think he could use a change of scenery. He's not a bad player but he's hit a wall in his development after that 25-goal year.
