Hodgson passed Daniel's rookie points totals and only one point behind Kesler's rookie point total. He was CHL player of the year a few years ago. Thousands of fans watched his team when they were just kids. Captain Hodgson won gold at the world Juniors
This young man is going to be a star and future captain in the NHL.
Hmmm, I recall a recent Canuck who was even more highly touted as a rookie
- #5 overall pick
- 43 goals and 91 points in the OHL with Brampton
- 21 goals and 46 points in AHL
- 20 goals in first full NHL season
- went to the Stanley Cup final in his first NHL season.
All of those numbers are at or better than Hodgson's totals.... yet this guy is a 3rd line player in the league even though he is also a dramatically physical presence who hits like a truck (something that Hodgson is not)
What I am saying is that you can't assume that since Hodgson has Sedin-like numbers in his first year that he will progress the same way. If you recall, the Sedins were considered to be struggling in their early years... but somehow Hodgson having those point totals makes him a superstar.
NO ONE... and that includes professional hockey people who know a lot more than you actually know how his career will turn out beyond it looking like he is NHL calibre.
