im sure all the hate about the trade is over

everyone is jumping back on GILLIS' bandwagon

Kassian was a great pick up and in his first 3 games he was probably the best player on this ice

good to see him get a goal last night

another thing i noticed was he didnt even back down to his former team he finished his checks and got a goal and an assist. good job kass

What business do they have with Schneider? They've got Bryzgalov locked up for how long? 8 more years after this season?

Schneider at the very least is an upgrade on Bobrovsky. Maybe they eat Brygalov's contract if Schneider plays really well?

Not likely I guess.

In any case the Canucks need to move Schneider at the draft this year before teams that want a young goalie look somewhere else like L.A. in Jonathan Benier.

Outside of New Jersey or Tampa Bay what other team might want Schneider and have the pieces the Canucks want to make a trade?

In my mind, it's official. Cody or someone in his camp asked for a trade:

I think more than anything it was just waiting to become a Kyle Turris situation.

Obviously he didn't fit long term and his future with the organization isn't as promising as it could be.

Gillis essentially nipped it in the bud and traded him now before it DID become an issue

Faaaar from a Kyle Turris situation.. I doubt Hodgson would ever refuse to play on this team.. Aspiring for a cup and all

I am talking about the potential holding out when you are an RFA and refusing to re-sign with the team.

Washington might be interested. Vokoun is the most overrated goalie. Columbus, NYI, and Colorado may want him as well.

Bernier doesn't hold the same value to NHL clubs as Schneider does. Not even close. These GMs are not dumb, they do their due diligence in scouting their potential targets. Not only has Bernier not played up to Schneider's level, but he has not proven himself against easy or tough opposition. I don't even think Bernier has Schneider upside personally. His hybrid style tends to get himself into trouble too often, and he's obviously below average in size.

Schneider should be able to step in and be a number one right away. He has the right mindset and character to pull in a larger workload, and be able to bounce back from poor outings. I'm not worried about Schneider's trade value. I'm willing to bet that of the young goaltenders, Schneider is the only one that gets moved...that he's the only guy GMs have big time interest in.

I don't question that Schneider is more ready to be a #1 than Bernier but GM's might move on from Schneider if the Canucks keep their asking price as steep as it has been reported so far.

Obviously the Canucks don't want to put a for sale sign on Schneider to other teams because it will diminish his trade value. They want to keep the illusion that they don't have to trade Schneider and that if the right deal is not there that they will hold on to him.

My only thing is you risk losing potential trade partners if you play hardball for too long. By that time teams may not want to wait for Schneider to be available anymore and take the next best option available like Bernier.

The thing is, there is more than one team who is looking for a young goaltender to build around. If one of them breaks, and trades for Bernier, the supply goes down, so the demand/price for Schneider actually goes UP.

Also, there are teams that might think their goaltending is adequate, that will find out in the playoffs that it isn't, and will be looking to address it ASAP. The Flyers were a good example of that last season. They completely remodeled their team when their goaltending failed them.

After 4 pointless games it would seem the Hodgson hype in Buffalo is dying down.

What should be noted is that Hodgson deserves as much hype as Tyler Ennis. Both first rounders. Both skilled. But Ennis scored 49pts as a rookie. Will Hodgson? No. So it would appear that Hodgson is an example of the Canadian Hockey Hype Machine at work. Bigtime. Heck, at least score some points like Kyle Turris before claiming this ridiculous hype...

Roy, Hodgson, Boyes, Leino... No size up the middle. That'll result in Miller having to stand on his head every night.

Time to remember that Buffalo was the seller here. Not us. Cheers.

5. Couple of teams did ask about Hodgson at the deadline. It's been reported that Dallas wanted him in exchange for Steve Ott. Toronto tried, too.

6. Vancouver "targeted" a few clubs that had the kind of player it wanted in exchange. Obviously, Buffalo was one (and Kassian was very high on the list). I believe the others were Carolina, Washington, Florida and one more I can't nail down. Don't know what the Canucks wanted from the Hurricanes. But, almost certain they asked for Brandon Sutter (can't see it, GM Jim Rutherford loves him) and an educated guess is the wanted Capital was young defenceman John Carlson.

From Elliote Friedman's 30 thoughts. Getting Ott or Carlson would've been great for the 'Nucks. Wonder what else Dallas wanted.

Like he said though 'educated guess'.

I would have loved to see Carlson with Edler, but I am much happier that GMMG traded for Zack Attack.
