Often a trade iis the kick in the rear a young guy needs to get his **** together. Especially coming to a pressure market surrounded by leaders. Malhotra is gonna take him under his wing and mentor him, just like he did for CoHo. We have a history of taking on players with question marks such as Lapierre and Torres, and getting them to be useful pieces of our team. As for the bar fight, does no one remember how Juice won a role on this team? Say what you want, but at least he won. ;)

The more I think about it, the more I suspect he can put some points up for us in the playoffs once we need to move Burrows down to play with Kes, which happens every damn year in the playoffs. We'll be seeing a lot of Kassian jerseys in Rogers Arena before you know it.

Taylor Pyatt 6'4 228lbs, 1 round draft, 8th overall...

Kassian 6'3 214 lbs 1st round draft 13th overall....

Kassian is... Taylor Pyatt 2.0

Great analysis - i think you will make a great hockey scout.

Look, if he's coached the right way, he'll be better than Lucic/goon
he has better hands and this kid could still be growing

One good thing is that with our team the players hold each other accountable. If Kassian tries to pull anything that could be detrimental to the team, you can bet he'll hear about it in the locker room.

If the Canucks go into the playoffs and play a rambling, tough-style hockey like the Bruins did last year, and if the refs DON'T put away their whistles like last year, then we are screwed. If they're gonna call everything the Canucks do, it'll be permanent PK.

If Bettman decides the flavor of the game should suddenly become surgical Euro-style hockey, which the Canucks excelled at last year (and so far this year), this trade will bite the Canucks where it hurts.

Either way, MG would (or will) be blamed for not getting (or getting) a tough guy.

Pretty good first game for Kassian, considering he never got to practice with the team.

Lots of hitting, great cycling, setting up good chances, and almost scores on his first shift with the Sedins!

Well if you are getting over the fact that Hodgson got traded, you would have to say Kassian had a pretty good first game in a Canucks uniform.

If you're still angry and bitter about the trade, you'll be trying to tell us that Hodgson would have scored on that chance Kassian had.

the canucks are winless with kassian in the lineup, and i think its time to face facts that he is a bust. he is on pace for 0 career points with the canucks. yeah ok he is big, but so was bernier!

The team seemed to play more physical with him in the lineup, should work out well for the playoffs.

Sidenote - I hope Cody scores a hat trick on the nucks on Saturday.

What I saw from Zack tonight. He's damn big, fast, makes great passes in the zone to set up offensive opportunities. He's a wall like Thornton when it comes to protecting the puck. He likes to hit, he likes to be in the play. He stands his ground and other people bounce off him. He has the offensive presence to go to the next and wait for a Sedin pass on his first shift with them. I loved what I saw from Kassian tonight. And Canuck fans just wait till he drops the gloves the first time you are going to love him too.

I love Zack Kassian already! Just from watching his interviews I like this guy, seems like he will work his a** off and give it everything he's got.

Had a very solid first game. I hope he can keep his play up like today, was easily one of the better Canucks on the ice tonight.

I would love to see it also. Just to see the reaction he would get from the home fans.

Canucks still win though.

I hated that we lost, but still managed a point. As far as Kassian goes, I was pleasantly surprised with his speed and vision/passing. He is much faster than Hodgson that is without a doubt. Loved his vision with getting open to receive passes. He handles the puck very well for a big guy.... So yea I'm very excited to see more of him I think he had a good game and will fit in great with the Canucks. I predict he becomes a new fan favourite! Changing my "Hodgson" name bar to "Kassian" tomorrow!! :)

Played well. Does the little things well and I'm sure with a bit of patience and a better understanding of the system he will develop into a solid contributor.

I really like the kid's sense of character. Soft spoken. Seems like a team guy that wants to work hard.

Kassian delivered. I was impressed with his composure and ability to make plays. Pretty good for a guy just stepping off the plane, a rookie no less. This could be fun to watch.

I personally don't care what he looks like. Man, this kid has some serious tools. I can't wait until he figures out how to use them. I guess the scouting report was right about some serious upside. He's still a good year or two away from becoming an impact player that Cody was though.

Glad I didn't complain about the trade and waited to see this guy first. I was really pissed at first but, I feel better now.

Well to be fair and to beat a dead horse, he is a year younger so it is logical to say that he is a year behind in development when compared to CoHo.

People keep forgetting CoHo had to take a whole year off from that back injury. That said, Kassian is a power forward and should take a little longer to develop.

Great first game for Kas!! Some time in our system and a few team practices will do him a lot of good. He has amazing attributes from what I saw, he will be a force once he understands our system.

Pahlsson had a good first game..

There is some nice chemistry, for two guys who just got off a plane and threw on the green and blue.

All aside, I look forward to April/May/June!

I remember those saying how Buffalo fans were glad he was leaving.

This shows quite the contrary for the most part (this was right after the trade took place) :
