If the Canucks win the Cup this year, are you OK trading the twins?

Decline? It's called a slump.

Trade the Sedins? That means trading 2 top 10 scoring players. Why do that? They don't come around often, especially 2 on the same team.

I like the Sedins and Appreciate what they have done for the Team and City, and would not be overly upset with either decision
It is a Tough call, You can pay them back by keeping them until they end up as Your 2nd line again and less productive
or You could do what Calgary did years ago as an example
and trade their best player in His Prime (Neiwendyk) for some Kid (Iginla) who can provide You with another 10+ years of production

Its a Tough call. Loyalty to the Guys who took You to the Dance,or, Loyalty to keeping the Team Strong contenders for Years?

I'm having seconf thoughts with this question, especially the first part with the way the twins are playing.

Scary part is I saw one of them tonight said 'they were playing better". It sounds eerily the same as the SCF when they also said that and they gave us a big fat egg.

OK. This is just a question I asked a while ago which is again valid as the season is about to start. If we get the elusive cup this year, are you ready for a full-on rebuild?

Absolutely not. These guys are the faces of our franchise and the best players in franchise history. I'd consider trading them when they are in the twilight of their careers but for the time being they are forever Canucks. Of course it's ultimately up to them but I'm pretty sure they're happy being Canucks and if and when they move on, it will be to Sweden.

This is a hypothetical question, if the Canucks win the Cup this year, are you OK trading them?

Seeing that they already started their decline, before they lose their trade value every year, they can probably be traded next year and get tremendous amount of of high picks, premium prospects to set the Nucks for the next decade. Them, and Cory.

Thoughts?

That's not how you treat your dedicated stars. They've signed contract after contract below market value. They've already earned the right to retire here if that's what they want. Plus they do have a NMC in their deal. So no, not going to happen.

The Sedins may not have hoisted THE Cup, as of yet, but I'm willing to bet you've never hoisted a cup ... if you know what I mean.

I'm implying that you have no man-parts.

Why the f would we rebuild if we win the Cup this year? Oh right, its Mr. Reputable. I forgot.

We aren't Chicago. We have cap space and will have even more when Luongo gets traded.

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

You have to manage your assets properly. If you can get younger elite players by using existing assets, you do it. Why are the members of the CDC clique fond if attacking the poster, you always violate the TOS. You're welcome to argue the topic, do you always need to bully the poster?

Erm...don't you usually rebuild when you're losing? Seems weird to rebuild once you've finally staked your claim as the best in the league...

Chicago tried to do it. I know cap is one of the reasons but maybe they just wanted long term security. They had the cup anyway so maybe they're thinking the fans wouldn't mind losing stars after winning the Cup.

Maybe, but not likely. It's completely illogical to rebuild a team after winning the Cup unless A: the team for some reason thinks that it can't win again with the same players or B: it has cap issues, like you said.

The op makes 2 assumptions in his opening post.
The Canucks winning the cup. The Sedins are in decline.
I don't see how both can happen at once.

The Sedins are and always will bw Canucks, but if a team were to offer a young player that could bring the franchise multiple cups over the next 15yrs, we'd be fools to be against it.

If the Canucks win the Cup this year, I don't care who they trade in the offseason.

Mainly because I'll be dead from the partying I would do after we win the Cup. Lotsa hookers, blow, and vodka.
