SukhKular
Ken Hitchcock said it best. The Canucks are hated because they win. You wanna be liked? Start losing. All the other teams will love you.

Canuck addict
Thanks for the responses so far. How much of a factor do you think the media has had with the Canucks image? Did the Alex Burrows and Ron McLean thing affect it? TV is all about ratings so have they pushed our hated image so they could get more people to watch? Thank you again. RightFlyingWing
I think the media has played a large part in amplifying the hatred of the Canucks around the league. Being in a Canadian market with a large passionate fan base has its draw backs. Because of the need of fans to be constantly connected with their team, it has led to reporters and journalists writing many stories about every little detail about the team. Including the hatred towards it.
RightFlyingWing
An example is the whole Alex Burrows and Ron McLean situation from a few years ago.
RightFlyingWing
http://www.theprovince.com/sports/hockey/canucks-hockey/Coach+Vigneault+time+Vancouver+nearing/6332660/story.html This was an article from 2 days ago asking readers if they think AV should be fired. Journalists will write anything here in Vancouver as long as a small percent of fans agree with them to get a rise from us and create readership of their paper. RightFlyingWing
Ok this article made me laugh. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/rosenblog/chi-keith-acts-like-a-canuck-20120322,0,1014138.column A Chicago based paper writes how Keith should be suspended for his elbow even though it was on a Sedin. Then they spend the rest of the article writing how Keith was a Canuck that moment and how much they hate the Canucks.
DooBie604
Short and simple answer. The media and the general publics inabaility to think for themselves. What's worse is it mainly comes from our own media and spreads across Canada and the US.
sorbbsorbobo
Media always like to overblow something. Media made this up. Does anybody here thinks Bolland hate the Canucks? He said that because he wanted to make himself in the front page on the next day on the internet, newspaper, and something we read. he pointed that Sedins are sisters. Because he wanted to become popular.
