Gollumpus
Obviously our biggest need going into next season is a top 4 defenseman. Salo is close to retirement and we can't rely on him to play 20 minutes a night anymore. And Tanev, who shows good promise, is probably still another year away from being a solidified top 4 defenseman. Should we acquire a defenseman through free agency or do you think we'll get one through trading Schneider? Here's some moves I'd like to see. Sign UFA Shane O'Brien - Some say he's undisciplined, but from what I've seen he's shown maturity in his game and brings more toughness and defensive upside than Rome/Alberts. Him and Tanev would make for a well balanced bottom pairing. Find a way to get of Ballard and one of Rome or Alberts. Acquire well-rounded top 4 defenseman. For example, Brad Stuart or Matt Carle. (Not saying we'll get one of them just the type of defenseman I'd like to see alognside Edler. Hamhuis - Bieksa Edler - Carle O'Brien - Tanev Rome/Alberts - Sauve
canucks_dynasty
My fantasy wishlist in the offseason... Trade: Schnieder + Ballard to TB for 2 x 1st round picks (should be around 10th-ish and 25th-ish) + mid-level prospect. Sign: Suter to $6M cap hit long term deal (ie. Luongo style). Trade: 3 x 1st round picks (2 acquired from TB and 1 from VAN) + Edler + Raymond for Weber. Sign: Weber to $6M cap hit long term deal (ie. Luongo style). Then Canucks would have a roster like this... CAPGEEK.COM CAP CALCULATOR FORWARDS Daniel Sedin ($6.100m) / Henrik Sedin ($6.100m) / Alexandre Burrows ($2.000m) Chris Higgins ($1.900m) / Ryan Kesler ($5.000m) / David Booth ($4.250m) Jannik Hansen ($1.350m) / Jordan Schroeder ($1.025m) / Zack Kassian ($0.870m) Manny Malhotra ($2.500m) / Maxim Lapierre ($1.000m) / Dale Weise ($0.650m) Aaron Volpatti ($0.650m) DEFENSEMEN Ryan Suter ($6.000m) / Shea Weber ($6.000m) Dan Hamhuis ($4.500m) / Kevin Bieksa ($4.600m) Andrew Alberts ($1.225m) / Aaron Rome ($0.800m) Chris Tanev ($0.900m) / Marc-Andre Gragnani ($0.550m) GOALTENDERS Roberto Luongo ($5.333m) / Eddie Lack ($0.900m) CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $64,203,333; BONUSES: $125,000 CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $96,667 The cap is supposed to go up...so upgrade D or F with whatever cap space is available. bossram
Trade Ballard for anything. Then hopefully sign college free agent Justin Schultz. Trade Albters. Re-sign Rome. Re-sign Salo. Sign Bryan Allen. Hamhuis - Bieksa Edler - Salo Allen - Schultz/Tanev Rome Realistic and cheap. Perhaps one of Schultz/Tanev could step up to a top-four role during the season.
