Macgruber_Mullet
Give columbus an offer they can't refuse! Could you imagine how good this team would be with "Bure 2.0" Schneider (I'd prefer Luongo but won't happen), Raymond, Jensen, Ballard 1st maybe? Do it Gillis!!! Do not pass this opportunity up! We got our "Bertuzzi 2.0" already in Kassian, can you imagine how good out lineup will be for the next 8-10 years with Kesler being the veteran leader for these potential superstars! KelMo
Reality check. This makes absokutely no sense. The Canucks Management would have to be brain dead to trade Cory before the free agent frenzy. Play out the scenarios: No one touches the RFA because they think Vancouver will match based on the players value. This puts Van in the driver's seat and they get Cory for cheap. Because the interested team doesn't have to pay compensation, they can offer a wider variety of players while saving on cap space. Is someone does offer Cory a price that the canucks don't want to match, lets say over 3.2M/year, it costs them a first rounder and a third rounder. The price goes up from there. This is why no one touches RFAs.
Blömqvist
Yes. First-overall players are almost always franchise players with enormous talent. Nail Yakupov is no different. He is the league's next electrifying superstar. If Nail Yakupov somehow ever arrives in Vancouver, he'll be crowned the next Russian Rocket before he even steps on the ice for the first time. He is a player who can live up to the billing, and is the guy many fans have been waiting for since Bure's departure. We'd be seeing the second coming of Pavel Bure, especially within the media and the fanbase, and certainly on the ice. The media would constantly be asking him about how he admired the Canucks as a boy, and how he idolized Pavel. They'll talk about what Igor Larionov taught him as an agent and sometime coach, and compare it to how Igor mentored Pavel.
susraiders
Nails favorite team is Vancouver. He probably has already requested a trade before being drafted.

Beluga Whale
Love the idea of it, but Columbus would be pretty stupid to make this trade. The only realistic way I see it happening is: Schneider, 1st this year, 1st next year or a good prospect. Seems like an overpayment but do you really think Columbus would want anyting less? Raph
No way we trade a guy that is a starter on any team for an unproven draft pick . Case closed !
Beluga Whale
What if someone offers 3.1M a year? Schneider is certainly worth more than a 2nd round pick, but do we match the offer, knowing that we'll have $8.4M tied up in goaltending? The criteria for RFA draft pick compensation in 2011-12 is as follows:$1,034,249 annual cap hit or less: No compensation$1,034,249 — $1,567,043: Third-round pick$1,567,043 — $3,134,088: Second-round pick$3,134,088 — $4,701,131: First and third-round pick$4,701,131 — $6,268,175: First, second and third-round pick$6,268,175 — $7,835,219: Two first-round picks, a second and third$7,835,219 and higher: Four first-round picks
Erik Karlsson
So if you had the chance to draft Crosby by only giving up a decent goaltender, you wouldn't do it? CDC is seriously overhyping Schneider's trade value. Yes he is a good goalie, but at the moment, he is not the second coming of Patrick Roy. And Schneider + 1st Round would not net us the 1st overall pick. Columbus would maybe trade Marc Andre Fleury for the 1st overall pick, but not Cory Schneider. cdubuya
you guys are so greedy. As if Nail isn't enough (LOL). Lets throw in another top 5 pick in Johansen. I have no idea what to think Scneiders value is at this point. I wouldn't be surprised if CBJ was to shy away from Nail. I also wouldn't be surprised if they were highly interested in Schneider. I think that they would want more than just our first, Raymond and Cory however. Maybe throw in another first in that package or a Schroeder-esque prospect and we might be talking. There are a lot of cheaper goalie prospects for GMs to look to. Ben Bishop only cost Ott a 2nd.
bobopan
Id say were probably looking at Schneider, our 1st round, a 2nd round pick and a top prospect like Tanev if you want to put up a solid package for the number 1 pick...
NAILED-BY-THE-HAMMER
i kinda feel bad for schneider he's like a poodle surrounded by a pack of chained pit bulls. this is what he wanted though but doesnt get to pick his destination.

Bruce Boudreau
Vigneault doesn't know how to handle offensive talented players. If they can't play defense first A.V. will never give them a chance. The only type of young players that can develop under A.V. are like Kesler,Burrows, and Hansen because they are good defensively but their offensive side wasn't developed yet. Yakupov is an offence first guy.
VanNuck
I say trade Schneider and Ballard to Edmonton for Gagner and their first rounder. On paper it's a deal that should work for both clubs. Edmonton needs an upgrade in goaltending and defense, and I'm surprised they didn't try and trade Gagner for a good blueliner. But a deal like this should jump start us. Landing Gagner meanwhile could help us forget about losing Hodgson, for he too is a good centerman.
MoneypuckOverlord
Done deal. If Columbus somehow loses the lottery and ends up with the 2nd pick, it's a big no. The trade for Yakupov, and if you ask me, we will only be offering Schneider for that pick.
iamspuzzum
I'd always hoped we could swap Schneider for Lucic.. Schneid's is from Boston, and Lucic from here. A home coming for both. Nice to dream..........
