HockeyHobo73
I don't mean to sound like Mr. Negative here but Bob's tweet said nothing to me that we didn't already know for the past couple weeks. Keeping my fingers crossed tho but still wouldn't surprise me if he didn't choose Vancouver.
Millerdraft
Gonna be extremely tough to prove. All the rumoured destinations for Schultz had player ties with his teammates (except for Edmonton). Burke has Gardiner, Sather has McDonagh & Stepan, Holland has Patrick Eaves (son of Wisconsin's head coach), Gillis has LaBate. Anything that would constitute tampering would've been a discreet in person meeting between Schultz and the "liaison" which would leave no paper/electronic trail. As for alerting Schultz to the loophole, any "family advisor" (*cough* agent *cough*) worth his salt would already be well-rehearsed with this particular nuance of the CBA and would be letting his client's family more than aware of this option (hence why Schultz is exercising said option). The Kassassin Train
"Of course, if the Canucks do land Schultz, there may be some downside. It is rumoured that the second Schultz is signed, the Ducks will file tampering charges against whichever team acquires him. As Elliotte Friedman wrote about a tampering investigation, in his indispensable thirty thoughts column today: "It's a tough process. You're obligated to hand over whatever correspondence the NHL desires."" I'm probably just being naive, but why would signing Schultz be considered 'tampering'? NZCanuck
Don't think it'll even matter. There is no evidence of anything. Schultz had a team in his mind since day 1. You'll just have the Ducks try to do something about it, but nothing will come out of it.
Melbourne Canuck
I certainly hope he does sign with the Canucks and if it's a strong possibility that may explain why we let the likes of MAG and Rome walk this week. I'll believe it when I see it though.

DeNiro
If he's meeting with Edmonton management tomorrow afternoon, we probably won't hear anything until Thursday at the earliest.
Joel Heyman
Under the condition that we do sign him, and Anaheim does file tampering charges against us, what exactly would we be required to do, if the charges are proven to be true?

Millerdraft
Hmm, that wouldn't be good. Good thing Gillis hasn't done anything that would provoke such proceedings... right?
Kassian
Canucks' Prospect Joseph Labatte played with Schultz at the U of Wisconsin, so that further helps our cause for him to sign with us. I'm trying not to get my hopes up but it's just so...convincing.
CoreyPerry
Um, Schultz's base salary will be $925k-$950k and the bonus incentives portion ($2.8m) can exceed the salary cap ceiling because of this thing called the "bonus cushion". You don't think the Canucks could squeeze in Salo's $2.5m and Schultz's base salary ($925k), a total of $3.45m, under a $70m cap ceiling? If Schultz were to hit all his bonuses and the Canucks were over the $70m cap ceiling, that $2.8m can deferred onto the 2013-2014 season's cap at which point Salo is probably retiring anyway (thereby freeing up $2.5m of that $2.8m owed to Schultz). Phamda
i am not talking about Salary wise...where the hell will he play Hamhuis - Bieksa Edler - Schultz Ballard - Tanev Tanev will play a full season, Schultz according to many scouts will push for a top 4 position this coming up season, if not, switch tanev schultz around......... Legend Killer
Will depend on how his shot develops this summer. He needs a better shot to be a top 4 guy. If his shot hasnt improved and we re-sign Salo, I could see him starting the year with Chicago and being paired with Connauton again. And we'd have Salo and someone(Cody Franson maybe?) rotating in as 6/7 and Alberts as our 8th dman.
