cIutch
yes Grigorenko and Girgensons.. the contradiction/irony is that Hodgson emerged as a 'star' this year, despite not getting enough opportunity? Ridiculous. Tailored minutes to suit his strengths, including a lot of power play opportunity - AV even referred to the second unit as "Cody's" unit - the issue is beyond stale. AV will help Schultz become a star - he knows when, how, and how much to use a player. No doubt about it.

JustNazzy
Toronto, Edmonton, and Vancouver are the leaders. You don't sign in Edmonton or Toronto if you want to play hockey. You sign in Edmonton or Toronto if you like golf. That leaves Vancouver as the only logical choice. YAY!
WiDeN
Edmonton will make the post season next year if they get a couple decent defensemen. Toronto will not.

UFCanuck
Toronto was closer To making the playoffs than Edmonton last season. How did Edmonton leap frog them? Because if Nail Yakupov?
bd71
I'm tired of this. I don't want him. I think teams should run from this situation. It's crazy and the history of guys like this turning out isn't great. How good is he? He's never even had a season of major junior competing against the best. Matt Gilroy ring a bell? Guarantee him a roster spot? I hope the Leafs get him and they can deal with this crap. The pressure on him is going to be enormous after making such an ass of himself coming into the league. steviewonder20
I don't see Gillis or AV guaranteeing ice-time, that's not their style. What they can guarantee is to develop him the right way, which is with patience. The same way we did with Bieksa, Edler, and Tanev. Bottom line is he can get all the ice time he wants on other teams, and have all the pressure on him. Or he can join the Canucks and be used sparingly in different situations, and learn different aspects of the game from some of the best D-men in the league, to help him become an all around player. He sounds like he's a pretty humble guy, so I'm not sure if he would wanna be "the guy", like he would be in Edmonton or Toronto. He can fly under the radar in Vancouver with respects to being relied upon heavily.
Phamda
Edmonton brass + HC Krueger and Taylor Hall are meeting with Schultz today. Man if Schultz signs in Edmonton you can definitely say bye bye to his potential. He's going to be their "star" on D and everything wrong with it will be cast on him. bd71
are you new to professional sports or something? also, LOL at no major junior experience. the kid ripped up the NCAA and was a second round draft pick with enough promise for the ducks to believe in him enough that they shipped away their next best defensive prospect to make room for him. But yeah, because he didn't play in the CHL he's crap...
