Kevin Bieksa Calls On Canucks Fans To Be Louder

Same problem down here in LA, Kings games are almost always sold out but the Staples crowd is all execs. entertaining clients or corporate season tickets through work.

I miss the Pacific coliseum and even the Great western Forum, totally different crowds at those venues.

Kinda hard to cheer for a game you don't see.

Suits staring at blackberry's and iPhones, etc.

If Bieksa (or anyone else for that matter..) would shell out for myself and a bunch of my friends to go to the game I know we'd annoy the hell out of the stuffed shirts and thats juuuuust fine with me. It wouldn't get them involved but it might compromise their "hey look at me i'm at a canucks game on the company's dime" ideal.

Personally, I'm not impressed with his comments. A part of me appreciates his truthfulness, the other part thinks they feel entitled.

The Canucks are a business just like 'any other' business. The Canucks are a product, fans are consumers.

Fact: the Canucks are geographically located in the most expensive city in North America: http://www.torontosu...h-american-city

Fact: Canucks tickets are some of the most expensive tickets in the NHL. Yet, R.A. sell out streak has lasted for yrs

Fact: Demographics, Vancouver is a melting pot of cultures and ethnicity - more so than most large citys in Canada.

With all the 'facts' combined with the location, tickets to Canucks games will generally attract a 'certain' segment of the marketplace - people with large disposable income/suits. Generally speaking, those type of people have similar behaviors, especially in public locations - they've not overt. Hence, not as loud or boisterous.

"When you’re at home and the road team has a louder crowd, it’s a little embarrassing. I don’t think we want that to happen to us". I've never heard a comment like that from a NHL player, essentially saying they are embarrassed by their fanbase. IMO, those comments are a product of people who feel entitled to receive a certain response. In life, sometimes you have to earn it. 7 losses in 11 games (worst since 2008-09 season) will generally not elicit excitement.

I cheer as loud as I can and then I always get the dirty look like I'm from mars. Sometimes I got warned by the usher that I was being too loud... I asked her where are we? A library? Then she got security to ask me to calm down and respect the usher. I'm being a fan it's my job to be loud! The security guy said, "one more complant and I'm going to have to escort you out". Seriously this is also security's fault and the old usher's in Rogers Arena to force us FANS to be quiet at hockey games. It boggles the mind sometimes

You can blame Rogers Arena security as well. My buddy was almost booted out for trying to start a wave and get the crowd going. Security came over and said he was making too much noise.

I've also seen people go and get security down in the lower bowl if they figure someones making too much noise near them. It really isn't a fan friendly stadium.

It doesn't matter where you are. What standards have society dropped to these days? If you see a family near you with young kids, you don't say "frack it, I can cuss all I want", you tone it down a bit. It's just common courtesy.

You can be loud and proud and support the team without making a complete clown of yourself. Unfortunately, people believe that being loud and supporting the team = getting totally plastered and acting like an idiot. Believe me, I'm on the "Rogers Arena crowd needs to be louder" side, but I surely also didn't enjoy some of the games I went to when I was sitting in the nosebleeds and had to put up with a bunch of drunken idiots around me. The problem is, there's no middle ground. I also caved and spent $300 on a couple better tickets for the girlfriend and I and we felt awkward because it was way too quiet.

The best atmosphere I've experienced at a hockey game recently was at a Calgary Hitmen game at the Saddledome when I was visiting family. It was loud and people were having fun but it wasn't over the top.

Bieksa should think about what comes out of his yap before he speaks sometimes.

It looks as though some people have been excited at games and been told to calm down by security. Wow. What a joke.

Maybe the next time Kev goes out for dinner with the Aquilinis he can bring up their gestapo tactics with paying customers.

Only in Vancouver. Pretention beats all.

Maybe if tickets didn't cost hundreds of dollars a game. I'd love to go to more games, but between ferry rides, hotel, tickets, food and the fact that I have bills to pay and due to schooling can only work part time it's a pipe dream.

Lower the ticket prices and get the suits out and I guarantee you you'll have a louder crowd.
