Easy followup question- who was the first player selected in the 1984 draft?

Now that is a good question. I am assuming 84 was the year they used a late round pick to select Luc Robitaille. That was the draft they also selected future Baseball 300 game winner and one day Cooperstown inductee Tom Glavine.

Too easy?

Not really, just one of those silly facts taking up space in my brain that is preventing me from learning new useful stuff. It was a very good question as evidenced by the guy who looked it up and didn't pick up on it.

They didn't win another
Until 1962
The year he was discovered

My fifty mission cap

The answer is the Maple Leafs.

Orland Kurtenbach and Dennis Kearns had just been torched 8-1 by the Habs, but they still took time to come out to meet us, some fellow BC boys who were playing hockey in Montreal. THAT"S what being a Canuck is!

I'm guessing it's going to be a backup on a team that loses a lot...

Gustavsson? Harding? Montoya?

The St. Louis Blues. Sometime in the 80's. I read it somewhere. Ownership issues it was, I think?

I'm going to go with Steve Staios (just played his 1000th game IIRC)

If not SS, I'll go with Roman Hamrlik.

Yeah, just went back and checked it out. RH has played in over 1300 games! I knew he'd been around for a while, but I didn't realize the extent of it. TBH, I almost listed Gonchar as my other guess.

FTR: Staios was drafted a year ahead of both RH and SG. Must have spent more time in the minors...

Yeah, the owner ditched the team right before the draft.

Alright, here's a question I asked a month or so ago that got lost in the mix...let's see if anyone can get it now...

Can you name the only player to wear 4 different numbers while playing for the Canucks? Bonus points if you can name the numbers he wore...

I'll give a hint this time: He played for the Canucks on 2 different occasions and was on our team last season (2010-11)

The only guy I can think of that returned from somewhere else to the Canucks last year was Schaefer.

He is the one! I knew that clue would give it away... Incidentally the numbers were 15, 18, 29, and 72.
