The "officiating"

It's not poor officiating it's game management. If you ever want to isolate an example of it look at the Hansen call tonight.

EDIT: and for the record the game management affects a lot more than Vancouver, and yes sometimes it works in our favour too. This isn't a "the refs screwed us and they always screw us" thing. Tonight, undeniably didn't go in the Canucks favour but the real question should be why has the NHL fallen to the NBA's level?

Are you kidding me?? That epic kick trip on Sedin in the last few seconds cost us a 6-4 powerplay. That 'mistake' led to the 2-0 goal and possibly the game. In fact, every single non call during the entire game may end up being the one that costs us. Whatever the case, the game has lost its spontaneity and the 'game management' is making sure good teams have to play extra hard to win while getting beaten up in the process. Its no longer who has a better team, its who can exploit the rules/refs the best in any given game.

Yes the officiating is brutal but this is really good for the Canucks. When the playoffs start, the refs will put away the whistle. This team cannot depend on the PP to win them games, especially a Stanley Cup. They have to find a way to play to the edge and score 5 on 5. So far, they have not figured it out. If they don't get it together soon, they will be playing golf a lot this year.

No im not Kidding, if we had played the way we should have all game, we wouldn't have been relying on the ref to make a call in the Dying seconds like you said he should have.

If we play at our best and he makes a bad call or something that leads to a goal I can understand saying the Refs cost us, but when we play as bad as we have and Hope for the Ref to call something so we can get a break and Score to cover up for us playing poorly and putting ourselves in that Hole I wouldn't say its there fault we lost.

It ours.

When you play a team like the Wild who's entire game plan is to choke the life out of a game with stingy defense, sometimes you have to rely on special teams to win it. Regardless, the Canucks play has absolutely nothing to do with the refs making calls. This is a thread about the REFFING, not the Canucks game play. Stop being so naive and saying the Refs have absolutely no sway in how the game ends up because that's just idiotic.

Yep, the refs SUCK.

But I believe that there is a method to their madness.

They are allowing obstruction, hooking, and holding go in an attempt to slow down the game.

Instead of putting the red-line back into the game, the NHL is trying to limit the speed of players by allowing hooks, holds, and obstruction coming out of the defensive zone.

Watch for it.

Most calls are being called on the offensive team, in the offensive zone.
