I just drag and drop into to my MP3 player... so neither. But I prefer WMP over iTunes.

iTunes has a decent layout and is great for organization. It's a horrible program otherwise, in my opinion, and I wouldn't use it if it wasn't for my iPhone being completely dependent on it.

iTunes is the single most annoying program that I have ever been forced to use.

I love using Media Monkey, you should check it out. Otherwise my second favourite for day to day use is Winamp.

Windows Media Player is better then iTunes though.

iTunes is absolutely awful. I avoid it at all costs; only use it when I need to do stuff with my iPod.

iTunes is bloatware - once you hit a certain threshold on the number of songs - it's slower than a slug climbing Mt Everest.

The other issue with iTunes? If you just accept the defaults and let it manage the music on your device - when you change computers, it wants to delete everything off of your Ipod!

I don't use WMP neither.

I use Beatport Sync.

iTunes is the worst, and the reason I've abandoned Apple products. Loved the iPhone, hated iTunes.

Can I get a little more detailed reason why people don't like iTunes and prefer another program?

Hard for me to imagine switching, but if it really is as slow as others say I could be enticed.

I have windows and I use Itunes. Find it perfectly acceptable. Is it slow? Sure, at times. But I grew up in the 80s and find it fascinating that I can still listen to all my songs, watch tv shows, and watch movies on one tiny handheld device.

I'm also married and have absolutely zero time to spend finding out which software device is slightly better than another perfectly fine product.

I do, on the other hand, have time to post on CDC. FAIL.

Can you imagine drowning AT a KK Rev concert?

Anyone remember Realplayer in the late 90's? The media software that would install a bunch of crap behind your back? Well Itunes is basically the new Realplayer.

I haven't used Itunes since 2004 when I had a shuffle. Anyway, if I remember correctly, there was basically an advertisement on every single page of that application. That and Itunes was required to upload music onto their ipods as oppose to the conventional drag and drop method. I think it tries to install Quicktime on your computer as well? I know it's nit picky, but that's one of the reasons I refuse to use apple products. Basically if you go Apple, everything you own will have to be Apple. Stubborn? yes, but I just don't support that.

That being said, I don't use Windows Media Player either.

For playing mp3s, I use Winamp. The layout is simple; you get a playlist and buttons for play/stop/pause. The Skin is also customizable.

For movie files, I go with Media Player Classic. For reasons similar to Winamp. Plus it plays almost any file format.

I haven't used WMP since...ever.

I still don't like the way it looks or the way it organizes. If I had to choose an iteration of WMP, it would be WMP classic which I believe is still out there somewhere. I prefer iTunes to WMP, but as has been mentioned, iTunes does tend to bug out every once in a while on my PC.

Having been a diehard winamp fan for years, these days I seem to switch back and forth between the two, depending on what I am doing. I have a lot time invested in iTunes with album art, genres, and all the non-essentials that I can't help but continue to use it.

And I really like coverflow.

iTunes just because it's more convenient for my iPod.

Used to use Winamp (haven't used in over 5 years) and Songbird (stopped using 1.5 years ago) though. I'm surprised there's still so many Winamp users.

I think one of the most aggregating things for me when I used the other media players were that their display for album art wasn't as nice and easy to obtain as compared to iTunes IMO.

I'm surprised at all the iTunes hate. I have been using it since ~2007 and have had no problems. The reason why I fully abandoned WMP is for iPod music management.

iTunes and QuickTime are two of the most terrible pieces of software on Windows. QuickTime in particular will decide to take ~20seconds to load a picture gallery, WMP under 500MS. Even on an i5/i/7 config with a decent harddrive it's the same. On OSX my experience has been a lot better though.

If you have an iPod and Windows, iTunes is your only real option, otherwise WMP.

Got an iPod and iPhone so I use iTunes. It's not half bad in my opinion, don't like that apple products depend on it but whatever.

A bit off-topic, but I use Grooveshark as a streaming music player (plays in web browser). You can make a free account and it's like a portable music library. I figure my hard drive will die sooner or later so it's nice to have as a backup. I freaking hate iTunes.

I haven't used Winamp since 2004-2005, when it officially became redundant after my first iPod. Also, with the exception of the various skins (which is nice, I admit), Winamp itself was hideous and crashed often in those days.

Windows Media Player is a joke. I'm not even going to bother discussing it.

I have no idea what antiqued devices people are using iTunes on, but I have had few issues with it over the years (on both my Mac and Windows computers). Yes the file sizes and updates can be quite large, and yes aesthetically it's a little bland, but it does what it needs to do.
