I am pretty disappointed in how the Chinatown nightmarket has been shrinking each year for the last few years. When I went to a Richmond night market I saw too many wannabe thugs, congestion, and I didn't enjoy going to the location. Chinatown has a lot of tradition and I generally enjoy it as opposed to the Richmond market. The new nightmarket does not seem very much different judging by what you guys posted earlier.

The Chinatown market doesn't have a chance, because it can't expand on food. The Richmond Night markets can be so large and varied, because there is specific plumbing for hot water for sanitary reasons.

IMO I'm all for germs. There are too many people on the earth anyways :)

If they tack that onto the vendor's rent, then food/product prices will increase. If prices increase, there won't be as much business. Without the business, night market will close down.
If you're willing to pay the increase in price, why not just pay that $1 at the entrance and purchase products at a lower price?

That's pretty bad logic. Imagine if you had to pay $1 everytime you stepped into a shopping mall.

How is the traffic jams for the Richmond Night Market near No.3 rd?

Is it better now? I plan to go Sunday.

Is it easy to find parking there?

Yeah I heard St. John's was pretty good at that.

The night markets are generally a big rip off. They are a hassle to get into and you either have to pay for parking or an entrance fee. You need about 20 bucks just to get full from the food they are offering these days.

I guess that is the price we pay for living in Vancouver.
