either way this was a stupid play by keith, eye for an eye hurts everyone. if they're gonna cheap shot our star players, chances are pretty good we're gonna do the same. only difference being that toews, bolland and seabrook all have well documented concussion problems.

Nick Kypreos @RealKyper

Meaning Keith could receive 5 or more games. Also told his #NHL hearing could be pushed back much later then the one scheduled for Fri 2pm.

Hearing tonite #NHL has in fact decided to ask #Blackhawks D. Keith to waive his right to in person hearing for elbow on #Canucks D. Sedin

Its unknown at this point in time whether #Blackhawks Keith who's is 'susp' indefinitely by #NHL has waived right to in person hearing or not

I am told no decision of any kind will be made until the morning. So all of this very much remains up in air but it's become complicated.

League apparently indicated to CHI and Keith earlier today the hearing would be over phone (5 or less games).

Hours later, NHL indicated it wanted an in person (potential to suspend for 6 or more) hearing instead.

Why should he? based on every suspension this season, 5 seems to be a pretty good guess on Keith s suspension... I would much rather the people who think this will be 'indefinite' until Daniels back "shut up", because new punishments aren't going to be made up just because it was a Canuck hurt.

it was a blinside elbow, 5 or 6 games. move on people.

you're all starting to get 'canuck-fanish' about this

Shanny missed the opportunity to really make the suspension equal to the injury. I have felt for several years now that the suspension should be equal to the time missed by the injured player in the case of a hit with intent to injure, plus an additional penalty tacked on. Something along the lines of 0-10 games missed, an additional 2 games added on. 11-20 games missed, an additional 4 games, etc. In other words, if Daniel misses 20 games, Keith misses 24.

Harsh? Yes. Will it make players think twice about dirty hits? Yes. But with video review of the incidents, the non-intentional hits are not as difficult to weed out from the vicious ones.

But you watch. Keith will get the he's never done this before discount and end up with 3-4 games.
