He'll join a list that includes names like Brodeur, Sawchuk, Hasek, Belfour, Roy, Esposito, and Jacques Plante. Luongo has played 724 games so far...Patrick Roy played 1029 and had 66 career shutouts.Luongo just needs 7 more to catch him on the all time list. If Luongo can keep averaging 4 shutouts a year for the next 3 seasons...he will be right behind Tony Esposito who had 76 career shutouts and be top ten all time. Luongo is already tied for 2nd all time with Bernie Parent for wins in a season (Brodeur had 1 more). As well, with tonight's win, Luongo surpasses Hall of Famer Gump Worsley for all time wins in the NHL and is 17th in history. He'll need another 20 wins to pass Rogie Vachon. 2 more 30 win seasons and Luongo will surpass Dominic Hasek and a slew of others, and move in to the top ten behind Chris Osgood and his idol Grant Fuhr. Tank Hankerous Posted March 27, 2012 Author Share Posted March 27, 2012 Oh yeah... and Luongo is a shoe-in for the International Ice HockeyFederation Hall of Fame when he retires. 5-0 in the 2010 Olympics with a 1.76 GAA and a gold medal. 10-3 record in World Hockey Championships with 2 gold medals and a silver A gold medal in the 2004 World Cup of Hockey A silver at the 1999 World Juniors with a 1.93 GAA over 7 games. 17-2-3 Record with 4 shutouts in 23 games with the Senior men's team throughout his career. He's been public enemy #1 in Vancouver and arguably the NHL for the past 3 years and he stilla puts up Hall of Famer numbers. He replaced Martin Brodeur.... MARTIN BRODEUR in the 2010 Olympics and stood on his head when the ENTIRE WORLD was breathing down his neck and he walked away with a Gold Medal. He deserves to be up there with the best and will no doubt in the coming years will pass great names. Thanks for bringing up the stats OP, a great read and finally a rare positive post on Luongo. PS To those who say you want him gone are complete morons... Do you realize how many times he has bailed us out when the players in front of him played terrible? More then Schnieder has thats for sure and even after all these long years of having crappy goalies Luongo is still not good enough? Give your head a shake.
