hockeyville88
According to a source of CSNNE.com’s Joe Haggerty, the chances of Nathan Horton returning to the Bruins lineup this season fall somewhere between slim to none. There have been no extensive organizational conversations about shutting down Horton as of yet, but the B’s concussed power forward “[won’t be returning] anytime soon.” With six games left in the regular season after Tuesday night’s tilt against the Tampa Bay Lightning, not much time is left for Horton attempt a comeback. And it doesn’t appear he will be attempting that comeback soon. “[They] haven’t had those discussions yet, but it’s not too difficult to figure it out,” the source said when asked if the B’s have reached a point where it makes sense to shut down Horton for the year. If he misses the rest of the regular season, Horton will have missed 30 games with what was first termed a “mild” concussion. Horton’s been out of the Boston lineup since Jan. 22 after taking a blindside hit to the head from Philly’s Tom Sestito, suffering his second concussion in eight months. The “mild” diagnosis and lengthy recovery only speaks to how uncertain things can be following a concussion. In mid-February, Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli said he “expected” Horton to come back — after Horton suffered a setback upon trying to skate. (Note: Haggerty does mention the Bruins “have been much less firm in their statements as Horton’s recovery has flattened out.”) If Horton is unable to return, it’ll be a blow to Boston’s Stanley Cup defense. The 26-year-old was a key contributor in last year’s playoffs, scoring 17 points in 21 games, including the game-winning goal in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference final. http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/27/report-bostons-horton-unlikely-to-play-again-this-year/

Bertuzzi Babe
He may be a Bruin and on my most-despised list but you hate to see anyone suffering the long term effects of a concussion with PCS. I hope a healthy recovery is possible. That said, though, I certainly won't be missing his presence on the ice come the playoffs.......

canuck2xtreme
Not to sound too much like a jerk about it... But in the playoffs, Boston comes out with this "Horton has a SEVERE concussion because of the Aaron Rome hit." Rome gets suspended for the rest of the playoffs, despite the only thing being wrong with his hit was it being a half step too late. Then 2 nights later, Mr. Severe Concussion himself is in a packed arena with 18,000 screaming fans and flashing lights, cheering and waving a towel to pump up the crowd in a Stanley Cup final game. You reap what you sow.

Nas19
KARMA. I feel bad for Horton the person, but I don't feel bad for Horton the hockey player. And I really don't feel sorry for Boston at all. They deserve to lose a few guys to injury. Hopefully though Horton recovers and is able to live his life without any ill affects.

TOMapleLaughs
Bruins are people too and I hope Horton recovers fully soon. Don't want to see yet another talent being lost to post-concussion syndrome. It seems the dreaded 'setback' is what a player should fear. Not the initial concussion. Toews has had a setback as well, but he's on-track to recover in a week or so. I guess concussion protocol and the term 'week-to-week' is what we have to get used to in this new era. But here's to concussions in sport simply 'going away' down the road. TOML
