The best agitator in Canucks history is not listed. He was Hilliard Greaves and was a forward who used to throw a few hip checks every game. Opposing players hated his guts with a passion that far exceeded the sullen resentment aroused by the second rate pests on your list. The second best was Stan Smyl, who used to knock about three guys a shift right out of their skates - thing about Smyl was, he could also play hockey. Everybody had to have their heads up when Smyl was on the ice because he finished every check, every time. Lots of guys think they are awesome if they make three or four hits a game - Smyl did that every shift. He and Verbeek were the best hitters that could play of their era - everybody hated them except their teammates. There were no cheap shots from Smyl, either, everyone of his hits belonged in a training video of "How to legally hit a guy in the chest so hard that it empties his sinuses all over his jersey." Referees used to give Smyl panalties for no other reason than they felt so sorry for the guys he hit having to be scraped of the boards with a spatula.

Hard to vote against Esa, he was a pioneer at this roll. He was sticky, could shadow and neutralize star players for an entire series. He would chirp and get players angry, even though most couldn't understand him. Apparently he was super funny, I heard he liked the drink and would often hold small crowds as he told jokes and stories while posted up at the bar.
