elvis15
From Dan Murphy's most recent column: ... I'm hearing Bieksa has been dealing with something that has been bugging him for a few weeks now so, instead of playing through it, the Canucks want to give him some time to let the injury heal. No word on the severity of the injury but it’s believed if the playoffs started tomorrow, Bieksa would be in the line-up. Since the playoffs don't start tomorrow, Bieksa is likely to be given a few more days off for maintenance and in turn miss the next couple of Canucks games. As for Daniel Sedin, he was spotted at the rink on Wednesday. I'm told Daniel is feeling better than he did the days right after Duncan Keith's elbow knocked him out of the line-up with a concussion. Daniel is still suffering from headaches, however, and cannot exercise at all until he is symptom free. Finally, with back-to-back games on the horizon, people are wondering how Vigneault will handle his goalies. Both Roberto Luongo and Cory Schneider are coming off 1-0 shutout wins and both have been excellent of late so there really is no wrong choice for the coach. Look for Luongo to go Friday against the Dallas Stars and Schneider to get the nod Saturday against the Calgary Flames.
goalie13
Funny. From the title I thought one of the goalies got injured from doing the splits. Thanks for the updates!

Burnsey
Bieksa should take the rest of the reg season off if he is working with an injury. We need him 100% for the playoffs. Good to hear that Daniel is slowly getting there. Sure he isn't doing any exercise but the fact that he is around the rink is a good thing. He could be back for the first or second round of the playoffs. Hope he doesnt rush back though. As for the goalies, i say spit them evenly until the playoffs: Luongo - Dallas Schnieder - Calgary Luongo - Ducks etc.
HorseGem2007
I'm all for splitting duties with Lu and Schneid until the end of the regular season and re-assess once playoff starts and who our opponent is. Give Juice all the rest he needs to be ready for playoffs. Hope that is nothing too serious, not even telling if it is lower or upper body injury. Damn .... which other part of the body is there ? Wish Hank also forget about the Ironman streak and get some maintenance days too (or if not missing games - some practices off). Kes is another one that could use some rest before playoffs. But then again, I look at the calendar and we have a fairly easy end of the season. Tommorow is the only game that really matter as Dallas could be our first round opponent, then we meet Calgary at home (nail in the coffin to the Flames) on saturday, 2 days off, meeting Anaheim who are out of playoffs picture. One day off and a short trip to Calgary for another meaningless game, then back home after a day off to finish with the EdmOils. Playoffs are to start on April 11, so there are 3 days rest before the start of the first round. Sure hope Danny is back for first round ! GO GO .... Be Proud .... Be Loud MAN .... I can't wait for the playoffs to start
thehamburglar
Give Bieksa days off. Do not make him play. Give Luongo more starts than Scnieds but give him a few.
NUCKS4CUP 28
The article says that Luongo will start Friday, and Schneider will start Saturday. I think Schneider should get tomorrows game and Luongo should get Saturday's game.

ILL BILL NECRO
I thought this was going to be about Lu not being able to do the splits any more since his injury (or his reluctance to do them).
elvis15
It's hard to carry a healthy lineup into the playoffs, but it sure is nice to have excellent options in net. Everybody gets some rest and we have a fresh start for round one.

Jai604
Good to see they are resting some guys up. Bieksa is going to be playing a lot of hard minutes very soon, he needs the time off. Since we need to use Gragnani a bunch to make sure he doesn't become a UFA, might as well cycle out some of the workhorses like Hammer and Eddie for a game, and let them heal up a bit. Kes needs some time off too, but I wouldn't want to be the one who tells him lol
elvis15
Gragnani only needs a couple more games, so including playoffs that's fine. Salo playing out the end of the regular season would put him at his highest games played per season total since the lockout so I don't want him to get overworked, but we don't really have anyone else unless Ballard or Rome come back, or we call someone up. If any forwards have minor injuries, we may see them rotated through the lineup, or more likely have them play less minutes like Henrik did the other night. Only so much to do without more healthy depth players to fill those spots.
Onions
Our depth in terms of net and forwards is ridiculous! No need to worry, once the playoffs start, our depth will be crazy. Our defense is what i'm worried about. Resting our D is a good call.
elvis15
From the Canucks Report today: JUICE REMAINS SHELVED Based on morning skate, it looks as though Kevin Bieksa will miss his second consecutive game Friday. The Canucks defenceman did not take part in Vancouver’s morning practice; he was one of three absentees, including Daniel Sedin and Aaron Rome. Canucks associate coach Rick Bowness provided little insight as to what Bieksa is overcoming at the moment, only saying he’s “day-to-day.” “We all know Kevin is one of the most fierce competitors in the league, he battles hard every shift, so to give him a few maintenance days is the proper thing to do,” said Bowness. Quizzed as to exactly what area of the body Bieksa needs time off to heal, upper or lower body, Bowness answered as only he can. “How about we go with the whole body and mind, we’ll give him a mental break too.” VOLPATTI SKATES Canucks forward Aaron Volpatti, who was sidelined indefinitely after undergoing shoulder surgery on December 4th, is perhaps closer to a return than anyone expected. Volpatti was put through the paces, alongside Andrew Ebbett, prior to Vancouver’s morning skate Friday, and although he hasn’t been cleared to play, it remains a possibility. ”He’s improved and his conditioning has improved and we want to make sure that if he’s ever given the green light to play, that we have him ready to go,” said Bowness. STILL NO UPDATE No update on Daniel Sedin, he’s “the same as Kevin, day-to-day,” according to Bowness. “We’ll see what happens today, we’ll see what happens tomorrow.”

JasetheCanuck
records indicate that starting Schneider in Dallas and Luongo in Calgary would make more sense, but hell, they're both playing so well, it doesn't even matter!
