alexkidd
With the standings being the gong show they are, it is in the Canucks best interest to finish 2nd. If we finish 1st and LA manages to beat Chicago we are stuck playing the winner of Detroit / Nashville. If we finish 2nd we would play LA. This is assuming we get out of the 1st round. Sanj
There is no easy way to a Stanley cup. Canucks should try to be first in everything!

alexkidd
If LA manages to beat Chicago. You're basing your argument on a "what if". What if we finish 2nd and Chicago beats LA?
Toni Zamboni
they are better off finishing first in the west.
TotesMagotes
The first and second round isnt really what we need to be worried about. Canucks can beat any team in a 7 game series they just have to bring their A game.
pwnstar
the op has a good point. but....the heart and drive of a champion is to beat the best.
forklift_ole
They'll have to defeat a great team in the third round no matter what, might as well get it out of the way before they are all injured and exhausted.

CrippledCanuck
No but there are definetely easier and harder ways. Detroit or Nashville is a harder way. Last year one of the reasons we made it to the finals was that we got to play 2 lower seeded teams. San Jose had to battle it out with Detroit and had nothing left once they reached the conference finals.

canucksnihilist
Nope. Better to do Ian 1st Either way, first round is "easier"... But 2nd and 3rd is Chicago or Detroit/Nashville. No way la or other team in 3rd beats Chicago, sorry. So better I get top seed so that you have home ice... But it probably doesn't matter that much anyways at this point
