Wasn't "Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd" a sequel, or does that count as a prequel. Either way, it sucked in comparison, why would/should this one be any better?

It was a prequel.

It was directed and written by people not even attached to the first film, and had an entirely separate cast.

This sequel will be directed by the Farrelly brothers like the original was, and will star both Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels. That doesn't guarantee that the movie will be good, but it gives it a good chance.

Umm Ace Ventura 2, The Cable Guy, Liar Liar, Me Myself and Irene, Yes Man. If you think that, then you don't have a very good taste of whats funny.

The problem is Jim Carrey has been doing too many crappy family movies lately that he's forgotten how to be really funny.

I have no doubt that if the Farrelly brothers are involved, this will be pure comic gold.

That they are!  All Original.  I can't see how this is going to be a bad movie.

Cameo? You mean he was an extra? Bit of a large difference there, unless he's like this huge world famous extra or something.

Are you saying Neely's appearance was as an extra?

When it arrives I'll try it. But like 90% of the movie industry, some movies were meant to be just one. At least guys like Dan Akroyd and Harold Ramis learned their lesson. Or even take hints from companies such as square Enix or blizzard. Know when to stop, know when it's good enough.

I am hoping that the script was so good that both Carrey and Daniels couldn't turn it down. Also I desperately want to make love to a school boy. :bigblush:

Are you saying Neely's appearance was as an extra?

I think he's playing on the technical definition. Isn't a "cameo" technically when a person appears briefly in a movie, playing their real life persona? By that I mean, wouldn't Cam Neely need to be playing Cam Neely in order for it to technically be a cameo? Which isn't the case, because he's Seabass.

idk

From wikipedia: "Originally the phrase "cameo role" referred to a famous person who was playing no character, but him or herself. Like a cameo brooch—a low-relief carving of a person's head or bust—the actor or celebrity is instantly recognizable. More recently, "cameo" has come to refer to any short appearances, whether as a character or as oneself. A cameo can establish a character as being important without having much screen time. Examples of such cameos are Sean Connery in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Ted Danson in Saving Private Ryan, Hugh Jackman in X-Men: First Class, Anthony Hopkins in Mission: Impossible II, George Clooney in The Thin Red Line, and Megan Fox in The Dictator. Jason Robards' uncredited appearance at the opening of "Enemy of the State" was brief but a key element of the plot."

Except for Megan Fox, all the examples of cameo's they give have the person playing a role different from themself. I think the person who replied to me either doesn't know Cam Neely is in the first movie or didn't know who I was talking about(thought I made it pretty obvious). Thats my take anyways.

Meh. I absolutely love the first one, but this is nothing more than a cash grab. Jim Carrey has not been funny in a long time (Me, Myself, and Irene); which was, coincidentally, the last time the Farrelly brothers made a good movie.

Carrey's last good movies he was in was Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Lemony Snicket's... Again though, I am not very optimistic about this. Hopefully I'm wrong, but Carrey's track record has not been great lately.

And if we are going by the Farrelly brothers track record, this is going to be a train wreck:

Osmosis Jones - 2001
Shallow Hal - 2001
Stuck on You - 2003
Fever Pitch - 2005
The Heartbreak Kid - 2007
Hall Pass - 2011
The Three Stooges - this looks awful

"These are the things to keep in mind. These are not just academic exercises. We're not analyzing the media on Mars or in the eighteenth century or something like that. We're dealing with real human beings who are suffering and dying and being tortured and starving because of policies that we are involved in, we as citizens of democratic societies are directly involved in and are responsible for, and what the media are doing is ensuring that we do not act on our responsibilities, and that the interests of power are served, not the needs of the suffering people, and not even the needs of the American people who would be horrified if they realized the blood that's dripping from their hands because of the way they are allowing themselves to be deluded and manipulated by the system."

This one especially triggers my "box office flop" sense. I have only ever watched a handful of episodes of the Three Stooges with my dad, but we both agree that the humor they brought was top quality for that era. It just looks so awkward to modernize it.

The first Ace Ventura was probably my favourite of his but I like Dumb and Dumber as well, so many good quotes.

I really didn't like the prequel Dumb and Dumberer though.
