The Coach
SO let's take a drastic look at what could be done by a new GM if they came in and went in a new direction. Gone Luongo Ballard Booth Raymond Malhotra All gone for picks, yep, that's it. The cupboards need to be re-stocked. New Line-Up FORWARDS Daniel Sedin ($6.100m) / Henrik Sedin ($6.100m) / Zach Parise ($6.100m) Evander Kane ($4.000m) / Ryan Kesler ($5.000m) / Alexandre Burrows ($2.000m) Chris Higgins ($1.900m) / Maxim Lapierre ($1.000m) / Zack Kassian ($0.870m) Jannik Hansen ($1.350m) / Samuel Pahlsson ($1.750m) / Byron Bitz ($1.000m) Zenon Konopka ($0.750m) DEFENSEMEN Kevin Bieksa ($4.600m) / Dan Hamhuis ($4.500m) Ryan Suter ($4.500m) / Alexander Edler ($3.250m) Sami Salo ($2.000m) / Chris Tanev ($0.900m) Colin White ($1.250m) GOALTENDERS Cory Schneider ($3.100m) Eddie Lack ($1.000m) SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $63,020,000; BONUSES: $0 CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $1,280,000 Thoughts? I know this is really drastic and many will flip out, but try to keep it a sane rant and not some stupid "yer dumb" comment.

Pears
I stopped reading after you had Luongo, Malhotra, and even Booth ffs going out. This would be my preferred roster: Daniel - Henrik - Burrows Booth - Kesler - Parise Higgins - Pahlsson - Hansen (if it ain't broke don't fix it) Kassian - Lapierre - Malhotra Edler - Weber Hamhuis - Bieksa Tanev - Gragnani/Connauton Luongo Lack

Stark
By signing them? They all have expiring contracts this year, Suter and Parise are UFA and Kane is RFA

Kass
There's no way we'd be able to get all 3. Winnipeg isn't likely to let Kane go, they'll probably match any contract. We wouldn't have enough cap space for all of them either. It's unrealistic. If we can sign even one of them, I'd be extremely happy.
Kass
Parise will demand at least 7+. Weber would also demand 7+, I fail to see this under cap.

Stark
As the op stated "I know this is really drastic and many will flip out, but try to keep it a sane rant and not some stupid "yer dumb" comment." But as he showed it would all fit under the cap if they sign at those prices, Obviously if we offer sheet Kane for that much Winnipeg will match it because they are already paying him 3.1m. The Parise number is plausible but that is if he wants to win more then he wants money. For Suter I think that he would be wanting 5+ at least but you never know maybe he would rather sign here for a better chance to win.

Phil_314
trading those guys for picks? Lu's still a starter who can get useful pieces, Booth will stay with Kes, Manny's still capable as a faceoff and defensive specialist, Ballard's been getting better before his injury and... well Raymond's just Raymond and I'd be fine moving HIM. However just trading them for picks doesn't bode well-- that's an indication of a rebuilding team. They may be considered as overpaid but if only on good nights they're worth their pay. Conversely if they're traded only for picks it'll be easy for the new GM to get ripped off as they're basically sellers instead. Furthermore, that guy will be disappointed (and so will the fan base) when those new guys aren't signed, which to tell you now they won't be. What this current foundation needs now is really only minor tweaking (i.e. Lu or Schneider, Ballard and esp. Raymond shipped out-- NO to Booth or Manny)
BZRK
Weber may not demand 7+ to play in Van. The only reason he is going for the 7.5 this year is because they low balled him so he countered with a huge number and then went to arbitration where they awarded him a number number (7.5) He may take 6+- to play here if he really wants to come back to Bc and have a great chance to win but he may also rather stay in Nashville.
