Looking at the standing, I think we can clinch the West with a win tonight, am I right?

OT or SO loss would also do it

No we need 2 points not 1

If we only get 1 St. Louis can win both and get 4 points and they would be 1 point ahead

No we won't. They hold the tie breaker, which is regulation + OT wins, so even if we win we won't clinch.

St Louis owns the tiebreaker. we need 3/4 points IF they go 2 for 2 with their games remaining.
If they lose in Overtime tonight and we win, we clinch
If they lose in reg and we win ,we clinch.

The long weekend couldn't start any better than this. GO NUCKS!
You have to be a true bandwagoneer if you buy Mike's line about looking for the right deal to trade Luongo.

True fans and hockey diehards know, that is double talk for, "Luongo is a high ticket commodity now or next year, we'll keep him around just in case Schneider turns out to be a lemon and chokes games."

And choke he will.

I know this. I'm never wrong.

If we win tonight, we will own the tiebreaker with 1 more win than the Blues. Right?

Yeah, I just realized that. Edited my post. We can't clinch tonight due to the tie breaker.

1st tie breaker: Regulation + OT wins (or wins minus shootout wins)

2nd Tie Breaker: Points earned in head to head games.

1st tie breaker:  Regulation + OT wins (or wins minus shootout wins)

2nd Tie Breaker: Points earned in head to head games.

oo...so they actually minus the SO wins??? shoot....then we can't clinch tonight even if we win. I thought the "W" is the first tie breaker, regardless of shootout win or not...

Canucks NEED to finish with more points than the Blues

even if they tie in ROWs (best the Canucks can do there is tie them), Blues hold the second tiebreaker (5 points in season series, to the Canucks' 4)

edit: n/m the 2nd tie breaker, IF they tie, then the Blues will have more ROWs. My bad

We need 3 out of 4 pts to clinch.. or St.Louis needs to lose 3 pts. Or some combination.

The Blues hold the tie breaker so the only way for us to clinch the West is for us to win and for the Blues to lose their next game or to capture 3 of our next 4 points.

The President's trophy will be a little more difficult. Rangers hold the tie breaker and are tied in points with us so if they win tonight and we lose they clinch no. 1 in the league.

If we tie , Blues will hold the tiebreaker with more ROW wins, no matter what. we just need 1 more point then them to end the season. For clinching tonight, We need to win, coupled with any sort of loss with the blues. Be it in reg or OT

It will take a combination of us getting 3 points and the blues missing out on some points for us to clinch because they have more ROWs

I like it this way, everything rides on the final game of the season (provided we win tonight, and assuming the Rangers lose).
Should make for a riveting final game, despite the fact it's against the Oilers.

I understand it as the first tiebreaker is most wins. The Canucks have two more wins as of now with both teams playing 80 games. If the Canucks win one more game then they would win the tie breaker as st Louis could not catch them in wins. Am I right?
