I'm voting for a player who hasn't received many votes to this point, but deserves to be up there, Eddie Shore.

This man was arguably the best player who played in the 30's and was, without a doubt, the best defenseman in the first 30 years of the NHL. He won an amazing four Hart Trophies. That is more than both Bobby Orr and Mario Lemiuex. Only Wayne Gretzky and Gordie Howe have won the Hart more times.

He would've surely won many Norris Trophies too, but the trophy didn't exist during his tenure in the NHL.

Stickin' with Bryan Trottier in my nomination. This man was one of the key pieces of the Islanders early 1980's dynasty. Trottier could score and pass with the best of them, scoring 50 goals once, and scoring at least 40 goals five times.

He also managed at least 70 assists five times in his career including an amazing 87 in 1978-79. He broke the 120-point level three times, maxing out at 134 points. He ended up with 1425 points in 1279 games and was part of six Stanley Cups in his career.

Interestingly enough Trottier also holds the record for the most points in a single period with 6 points (4 goals, 2 assists).

This list is kind of broken if Hasek is honestly that far below Roy and Brodeur. People say Ward "carried" the Preisdent Trophy team in the playoffs when they already had been playing amazing that year.

Hasek was a guy that could LITERALLY make a team a contender just because he was capable of being that damn good. Roy and Brodeur are obviously amazing goalies, but what Hasek could do by himself was spectacular. He was able to literally carry a team. Brodeur was protected for so many years by Norris worthy guys and a smothering trap system. Roy had a pretty damn amazing team in front of him as well for most of load.
