oldnews
like Bitz, but that was a braincramp of a hit - high risk of concussing or injuring Clifford - deserved a five and a game - and unfortunately a big factor in the loss - a suspension to Bitz would not be any more costly to the Canucks than the pp goal already was, but Clifford left with an upper body injury, so... Hugh Chardon
Bitz is a tool. Him and Kassian both took stupid penalties and kept our best players off the ice for far too long. And what the heck is up with his name...Byron Bitz...sounds like a gay pornstar. And you know what? While we're at it, I've just about had it with this whole bloody team, and Coach V and his stupid Buick Enclave ads, and Kesler's stupid cell phone ad where he talks about all the options he has every time the puck is on his stick. Yeah, well you know what buddy, I've got options too. And Luongo, sure, you play poker....awesome, just awesome, but please for the love of god stop the god damn puck. And don't even get me started on Rome...what the hell is up with this guy? Are you kidding me? And Raymond....what the hell? Just retire already. Please, just go away. We'd get better production out of Hayley Wickenheiser. Alright, good talk. Peace out.

RUPERTKBD
It should be 1, maybe 2. The hit was ultra dangerous (edit: and stupid), but his intent wasn't as malicious and it became so dangerous because of circumstance You can see he makes an effort to keep his elbow down and Clifford was turning to shield the puck. JLumme
Bad hit, very dangerous. Deserves a game. Would be two or three games if it wasn't the playoffs. But since he got 5 & a game, LA got the PP goal, I think 1 game is justice.
Goal:thecup
Shan-A-Math: 1 Playoff Game = 12 Regular Season Game. 5 minute major in playoffs = 60 minutes (1 game regular season). Kicked out for half a playoff game = 6 game regular season suspension. Keith got 5 regular season games for more blatant and worse action than Bitz. Bitz should have let up and avoided the penalty but perhaps he has served enough.
Zackassian
One minute mark shows the best angle IMO. Seems to me it was only a blind side hit that came a little from behind. It looked shoulder to shoulder, but he hit the guy on the back of the shoulder. It would have been 2 miuntes except the guy went into the boards, so they gave him a 5 minute boarding penalty. Not worth more than one game suspension if that. Remember a playoff game is worth more than a regular season game.
CowtownCanuck
WHat a group, we whine Keith didn't get enough games for his hit on Sedin then try to say this hit doesn't deserve to be looked at? NHL needs to set a standard in order to prevent Sedin/Naslund/Raymond hits from happening.
Mustapha
Clifford should know better than to hunch down along the boards like that, the opposing player is going to finish his check. Reasons why it should not be a suspendable hit: 1. The hit was full body contact 2. The player hit had the puck possession. 3. Bitz did not charge or leave his feet to check the player. The play could be called boarding I suppose, but the call should have been 2 minutes, not 5. Outcome was bad, but the play itself was nothing more than a hard hit along the boards. Shoulder to head is legal when initiating full body contact checks.
Langdon Algur
I think he will get 1 game max or no suspension because Clifford was not injured on the play and he received a misconduct.
Primal Optimist
Here is my terrible Microsoft Paint screen caps of the hit: to me it shows nothing suspension worthy. He doesn't leave his feet, he doesn't target the head, his elbow is at the boards level below the head for most of the hit, and goes up in the aftermath of the collision, and to my eyes it appears as though he was trying to hit in the front of the shoulder of the King's player, but couldn't as the player turned into boards rather than out away from boards. Just my opinion: penalty call, not a suspension call. Here is my caps from the video, they are ugly and just thrown together now. EDIT: even now I look again at cap 1 and cap 2: Bitz slowed down and turned away from Clifford you can see that contact is just about to occur in frame 2, and bitz has slowed down from frame 1 and his left skate is turning into the boards, not doing into Clifford while his right skate is picked into the ice, which as anyone who has skated before will tell you stops forward momentum rather well. I am not a Bitz apologist, I think he shouldn't be on our playoff roster, but I do not think this is a suspension worthy play.
TimberWolf
Biitz and Weber should get about the same amount of games. Both dangerous and stupid.

Shift-4
I don't think he will be suspended. 5 and a game was just. Just an unfortunate incident.
Bodee
This...embarrassed he's wearing a Canucks uni...he was approaching him with his elbow up...clearly the intent was there. This needs to be taken out of the game...the intent to injure...clearly some players think it's still more beneficial to do this then not..obviousely dumb move and especially during the playoffs..evidently NHL isn't doing enough to take this out of the game as the penalties aren't severe enough to completely deter players from doing this. Players with malicious intent should be taken out of the game as such actions could very well cost some other player's careers, and hence their actions should cost them their career. Tearloch7
For every game Bitz gets, Weber should get 4 .. Bitz was a hockey play on a guy who bent down ala Adam Hall .. Weber's was a malicious intent to injure .. nothing to do with the play .. I say 1 to Bitz and 4 to Weber ..
