*This just in* I heard they called Burke up for his opinion,

"BAN HIM FOR THE REST OF THE PLAYOFFS!, of course I'm unbiased Shanny, gbye"

Maybe they can call Marc Crawford on this one.

I honestly hope both Bitz and Weber are dealt with properly. But who knows with the NHL...

Moronic play

Left his feet, led with the elbow, and head was the principal point of contact.

For a guy who has waited a long time to get his shot in the NHL, that was a heck of a way to blow the opportunity

Wow, I don't see any of that at all. From what I see in the video posted earlier, it's more like this:

He didn't leave his feet at all, if you watch, his right foot only comes off the ice when it hits Clifford's skate. His elbow is tucked tightly against his side when contact is made, his shoulder, arm and elbow all contact at the same time, and he doesn't even touch Clifford's head, just rams it into the board.

Seems like people are looking at that hit and seeing something way worse than I am. Bitz wasn't really even moving that fast when he delivered it.

Guess we'll have to wait and see what Shanny says.

There was no reason Bitz to have followed through, he saw Clifford in a vulnerable position, targeted the head, no signs of letting up, and it was quite visible that Clifford wasn't going to turn around.

Bitz will get the book thumped on him for that. considering what has happened to past incidents and not so recently Daniel Sedin and Duncan Keith incident, that really just sheds a lot of negativity on us. This is definetly something that we are trying to take out of the game. I get it, the games full of emotions and fast but honestly what Bitz did was totally uncalled for.

Especially at the time of the game, we just started gaining momentum in the second period, and he does that. Tie game, and sends us on a 5 minute goose chase, just absolutely pathetic, placed us behind the 8 ball early in the game.

Luongo let in the most brutal first goal. :picard:

RIP to the BEST pound for pound fighter the NHL has ever seen. Will be missed.

He needs to see some bench time, this idiot is a big reason as to why you guys lost.

This is true.

Dumb play. Cost us game one. The best thing that the NHL could do for the nucks would be to suspend him for the remainder of playoffs. That way av can't play him.

Yeah hard to say that it wasn't a bad hit - he will be getting suspended.

It was a dangerous and reckless play Clifford's back was towards him the whole way.

But none of your points are correct.
He did not leave his feet. His left skate comes slightly off the ice, his right skate remains on the ice until it catches Cliffords skate where he goes up on his toe (which remaining on the ice.)
He did not lead with an elbow, he kept it down.
The principle point of contact was Clifford upper arm. Bitz shoulder makes contact with the head as part of the follow through.

I personally don't think it is suspension worthy, but given it was Bitz, this is the first game of the playoffs, and Clifford left the game due to injury I could see a 1 or 2 game suspension.

Anybody who thinks there shouldn't be suspension for this hit is retarded. Bitz will and should be suspended, but hopefully 1 - 2 games max. I was excited to see what he could bring for us this PO's.

Jeez, I don't want to be a homer, but the hit wasn't that bad.

The hit wasn't that violent and normally a major penalty is only called when an injury has occurred.

Would like to see video to make a better assessment.

yeh it wasnt that bad i dunno what these kids are freaking out about.

obviously a bad hit, but not enough for canuck fans to be calling for a suspension

That wouldn't work, Shanahan would hang up thinking all he was getting was static.

1 game suspension. 5 min major is a pretty significant penalty on its own and i didnt think the hit was terrible. As for those ready to park Bitz on the bench id still give him another chance. Love his grit, unfortunately sometimes bad hits are going to happen..what can you do. He was pretty upset about it, knew it was a bad hit...move on.

I honestly can't tell if you're just trolling or if you honestly don't think it was a hit to the head.
To me, it was clearly shoulder to head.

Mike Richards hit Burrows in a very similar fashion in the second period, where Burrows bounced right into another King. Replay shows Burrows' head was targeted. Burrows was woozy coming back up. No call, not even a 2 minute for hit to head.
Can't find any replays on youtube... all the Richards / Burrows hits are of the last one near the end of the game.
In my mind, Richards should have at least been given a two-minute penalty for hit to head on Burrows in second period.

as a huge homer, the hit was pretty bad ... undisciplined play by Bitz, targeted and contacted the head.

Definitely a suspension. Only positive thing? It was Byron Bitz... Put Ebbett in his spot.

What a bunch of clowns calling for a suspension. The wimp puts himself in a vulnerable position. This isn't a Weber Whack-a-Mole incident.

Even if he did put himself in a vulnerable position, it doesn't change the fact that it was contact to the head. It wasn't shoulder to shoulder like you keep saying.

I'm not even talking about whether it's suspendable, I'm talking about the fact that it wasn't a shoulder to shoulder hit.

I think he will get 1 game max or no suspension because Clifford was not injured on the play and he received a misconduct.

Clifford was out for the game...

That is definitely suspension worthy., if one of their players did that to Kassian then I would be screaming for their head on a platter.

3-5 games because he is a fringe player, he would get less if he was a top guy.

I actually didn't see that big a problem with Weber's hits... it was rough play and probably worth a penalty but not a suspension, that sort of crap goes on all the time in scrums during the playoffs. It looked worse because Weber is so much bigger and grabbed the guy's head in his hand to push his face into the boards.... but probably a dozen times in each game tonight someone used their forearm to do exactly the same thing to an opposing player.

2-3 games minimum should be given. These need to be taken out of the game... players are dropping like flies because of these hits.

Stupid, stupid hit that cost us the game tonight.
