Kesler's Antics

If AV wants to get Kesler going, bench him for half a period the next time he is playing bad. That should unleash the beast the next time he steps on the ice.

Edler getting taken off the PP is was good. He's going to be hungry in game two. Mark my words, Edler will be the first star tomorrow.

The regular season is about skill level, however the playoffs are much more about grit and character. This is why the most talented team in the league probably won't win the cup. Who are the " character guys " on this team? Kes? Sedin? Burrows? Gimme a break!

Stan Smyl had more character in his little finger than this entire team put together. Instead of Characters, we just have Actors.

Embarrassing is right.

U misspelled usefulness. :)

It's ok if u don't understand, some people aren't as in tune with the game as others - no hard feelings. Hard core, old school fans know what I mean when I talk about character. Character isn't diving like a soccer player or whining about the refs. The current Canuck team is very talented, but is almost void of the character of which I speak.

Cheers

Speaking of wastelands "real deal".... Los Angeles - a city where no city should be - there is no there there - no water - no reason - and there should be no hockey team there either - the best player ever born in the city of Los Angeles - who would that be?

Take your pick - here are the three all-time NHLers born in Los Angeles....

Brian Salcido - 2 games played, 1 assist

Garrett Stafford - 7 games played, 2 assists

Brett Sterling - 30 games played, 9 points.

Maybe they want to take that and tweet it.

Kesler has been playing so well for us the past 3 seasons 1 bad game, and you have morons saying we rather traded him then Hodgson? You guys are aware that, Kesler didn't do anything last year until the 2nd round... I hope you guys still remember that. He was non factor in round 1, he was ok defensively in that series, but was a "non" factor in any way. So lets not throw 1 of our top players under the bus, cause he was our MVP in round 2, and was a huge presence in round 3. So to say he's all of a sudden useless to us, embarrasing, to have, shut the hell up. He is still our player, we saw a terrible player 2 nights ago, but that's not the real Kesler, and we've seen the real Kesler before. Look for him to be trowing his body around. Look for the entire team to wake up!

But the question remains ..."who are the real Character guys on this team? All the great teams had them ... Heck the great islander teams were FULL of them. Think names like Gillies, Nystrom, Tonelli, Trottier ...

Kes?

Burr?

Sedin? (pick either one it makes no diff)

Bieksa?

the honest answer is that there isn't even one. Not close

Super talented team destined to fail. No heart.

I agree that the team is guilty of diving and whining at points, but at the same time it doesn't mean the team is completely devoid of character. That's ridiculous. It's especially ridiculous when the diving and whining you speak of is really only being committed by one or a handful of players.

This team may not be filled with blood and guts type warriors but they know how to get the job done. They know how to win. They went to Game 7 of the Cup final last year. They may not do it in as heroic a fashion as some other teams that are seemingly more popular to cheer for at the moment - like the Rangers, Blues and Predators - but it doesn't matter. The Canucks aren't any of those teams. The Canucks are the Canucks and they do it their way. Guys like Kesler just need to give their head a shake, start focusing and playing the game, that's all.
