We were shorthanded for almost half the game, played terrible, and really only lost the game by 1 goal. We'll be fine.
Well stated! Vancouver was lucky it was only 4/2. It was a fluke the puck didn't go in the net a few more times. I'm disappointed in Vancouver. Game 1 of a Stanley cup playoff game and they played like it was game 1 of the season. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge canucks fan. LA is a great team as well. They went into overtime 15 times this season where Vancouver hit that mark 6 times. LA's record/points overall in the standings doesn’t tell the tale of the tape so to speak. It wasn't the penalties that made Vancouver play bad because they were tired as Luongo tried to state in a post-game interview. They were playing poorly before that. Yes, they are the president’s trophy winner but they didn't play like it. I had high expectations for game 1 and was really disappointed. My only expectation for game 2 is they actually show up this time.
Setting points aside, It doesn’t matter what record they had in the regular season, The playoffs are a higher level of play…Almost like the next level above the NHL…A new season... Both teams are equal. It’s about who wants it more, who works the hardest. LA definitely wanted that game more! They were rewarded for their efforts.
I don’t expect Vancouver to win every game in every best of 7 series. I would hope however, that a team in a Stanley cup playoff would present an effort and play like they have the desire and drive to win. Every penalty they took was unnecessary. The snow shower from Kessler. They know this will be a penalty, so why do it? The shot to the head into the glass by Bitz. Are you even kidding me????
LA clearly did their homework on Vancouver. Vancouver looked unprepared for LA’s hard play, calculated passes and hits. You could see the confidents LA was building as the game went on. You could also see the frustration Vancouver was having with that and displayed it with a lot of yacking and dumb penalties.
Play like you at least want to win Vancouver. If you do that and still lose, I’m ok with that, at least you can say you gave it the old college try. You got into the verbal battles and lost. LA got inside your heads and you showed it. I didn’t see it effecting LA’s game. I saw them feeding off it gaining the momentum.
Make me eat my words in Game 2 Vancouver!!!!!
