Provost
Pathetic. IMO Bitz deserves to be suspended, but so does Weber. Weber deserves a longer suspension the Bitz does because it was a deliberate attack to the head. There was no "heat of the moment" like the Bitz hit. Just Pathetic NHL. How do expect to crack down on head shots when you throw out a measly 2500 fine. What a joke
ilduce39
I have no problem with Bitz getting suspended but Weber should have gotten as much, if not more in my opinion. If somebody took a Bitz-like run at Henrik I'd be choked.. but I'd be downright livid if he got Weber'd.
7thMan
Honestly, we should be benching Bitz for what he did, anyway. It was stupid and reckless and it cost us a goal against. The league is doing us a favor.
nucks all the way
Ha they turned off the comments section where they explain the ruling on Weber because they know people are going to piss and moan, and rightfully so. Guess even a bozo like Rosen realizes the ruling is a joke. Bitz, though, thoroughly deserved that.
Demo250
TSN panel agrees with the suspension but says that it is easier to suspend a role player for a number like that than a star. I agree with that. Unfortunately, that tells us that the system is still broken. Bob McKenzie says this would probably be equivalent to at least a 4 game suspension in the regular season. CB007
A fair suspension. I actually don't mind the hit early in the series. It gives Sutter and the Kings something to think about. Together with the borderline hits from Lappy and Kassian, they know that we are capable of being nasty every bit as they are.

Blömqvist
As for the Weber incident if you look at the replay the head smash isn't as bad as it is portrayed to be, maybe deserved a game suspension nothing more.
Sami Solo
I agree with this, makes perfect sense. Reckless and dangerous play.
Ray_Cathode
Vancouver Canucks winger Byron Bitz has been suspended two games by the NHL for his hit on L.A. Kings forward Kyle Clifford in the opener of the Canucks' Western Conference quarter-final series Wednesday night. Bitz had a disciplinary hearing with the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety on Thursday afternoon. Bitz received a boarding major and game misconduct at 12:12 of the second period of the contest as a result of the hit. While attempting to gain puck control, Clifford had his head down and was in a vulnerable position when Bitz caught him and forced his head into the glass. Clifford stayed on the bench for a while before leaving the game and not returning. The LA Times is reporting that Clifford will also miss Game 2 of the series on Friday night. oldnews
Weber's was a bad hit from behind, whereas Bitz's hit was a WWF move - I mean Bitz's was....
beer&meat
ok fine fair enough but when is shanahan going to get it right? he has no testicles to make a good decision.....he has really dissapointed with the length of suspensions for all teams the whole year, if i were a detroit fan i would be major pissed about weber
ccc44
Oh here comes the Weber whambulence. Yes, the lack of suspension for him is rather shocking to say the least. But that doesn't mean Bitz didn't deserve his suspension, because he did 100%. I am glad that at least someone got punished for their idiotic play. Sure, Weber should've gotten the same suspension, but I rather have Shan get at least one suspension right instead of letting everyone off the hook. It just so happens that Bitz got it this time. And because he is on our team we are here getting angry about it. So people think since Weber got nothing, Bitz should get nothing? That kind of thinking is no good either. Cindilette
I was expecting Bitz to get suspended. He should have been smarter than that. I think losing Bitz won't hurt us. I wonder if they will call someone from Wolves (really want to see Reinprecht in our line-up). After a stunt like that, I hardly doubt AV will put Bitz back to our line-up anyways (unless he has no choice).
Ray_Cathode
Reasonable in my opinion. Bitz had enough time to stop and play the puck. As for the Weber incident if you look at the replay the head smash isn't as bad as it is portrayed to be, maybe deserved a game suspension nothing more. Anyway I wanted Ebbett or Weise and even Reinprecht before Bitz...
