forever_hope
I know there's a few threads on the recent hits but just thought I'd compile some controversial hits in last year's playoffs to compare: This year: Bitz on Clifford 2 Games (WCQF), 5 minute major, Clifford out for game 2, day-to-day Weber on Zetterberg 0 Games, 2500$ fine (WCQF), 2 minute minor, Zetterberg expected to play game 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiMgjO0EgtE Last Year: Rome on Horton 4 Games (SCF), 5 minute major, Horton was out for rest of finals Torres on Eberle 4 Games (2 in WCQF), 5 minute major/Game misconduct, Eberle finished the game Ryan on Blum (Stomp) 2 Games (WCQF), No call, No injury, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7MEmL6EqOs Ruutu on Erat 1 Game (WCQF), 2 minute minor, Erat returned Eager on D.Sedin 0 Games (WCF), 2 minute penalty- Daniel was fine but clear intent to injure Mcginn on Rome 0 Games (WCF), 5 minute major, Rome was out for conference finals http://www.bing.com/videos/watch/video/mcginn-drills-rome/6kll7dx
forever_hope
Abdelkaeder on Seabrook 0 Games, No call, No jury, Repeat offender, clear elbow to the head, last game of regular season http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yvRStSPYok Lucic on Spacek 0 Games (ECQF), 5 minute major/Game misconduct, Spacek returned http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAP657MO4Zo Ryder on Jones 0 Games (ECF), No call, Jones out for rest of series http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxLs-g9lPEc None in 2010? 2009: Brashear on Betts 5 Games (ECQF), 2 minute penalty, Goon, Betts left and missed game 7 with multple fractures Carcillo on Talbot 1 Game (ECQF), No call, No injury, Cheapshot Lucic on Lapiere 1 Game (ECQF), No call, No injury Brown on Hudler 0 Games (WCSF), 5 minute major, Hudler was hurt but returned, worse hit than Brashear's IMO despite outcome There’s definitely been some questionable calls/non-calls in the past few years and it seems as though we’ve been on the shorter-end of the stick. I didn’t add regular season since we are in playoff mode but some comparable hits are Clifford on Tanev, Malkin on Mitchell.. If I missed any, let me know and I’ll can add it in.. canuckle_puck
Don't forget Boychuk breaking Raymond's back.
Chris_P
Boychuck didn't mean to do that, they got tied up and Raymond went into the boards awkwardly. I don't think there was anything malicious about that play, except the fans in Boston chanting. You know, the same fans who talked about how terrable montreal fans were for cheering when Chara went down.
lateralus
Ryder on Jones was the right non-call, two guy colliding and one noticed (Ryder) at the last second.

La Mauviette75
It was interference. It caused a severe injury. Those are the only two criteria that got Rome 4 SCF games.
canuckle_puck
i suppose, but one of them was a late hit, whose likely consequence was injury/concussion, while the other one was an awkward tangle up, whose consequence was very flukey. come on people get awkwardly tangled up all the time, it never leads to such dramatic injuries. there's no way the bruins guy could have predicted/intended to do that. rome's hit was stupid and reckless at the very least. the principle point of contact isn't abundantly clear from the video either. Haikara
Michael Ryder or Blair Jones had me up in arms last post-season. Ryder jumped and Jones was knocked out, but not even a penalty was called. If only their was a better angle to see when Ryder saw Jones. Mike Brown on Jiri Hudler was probably just as late as Rome on Horton - 0 games to 4 games? Someone wanna time it?
