The Brahma Bull
Wow...... Supplementary discipline required as he is a repeat offender but bumping Raffi's hit on Hossa into the same category as Bert's transgression is bloody ridiculous, IMO. That said, the precedent has now been set and Shanahan better stick to it from now on for every subsequent similar on-ice incident. That whole Keith on Daniel thing of deliberate head hunting has me infuriated all over again. Not to mention the Weber smashing Zetterberg's face into the boards incident. U.N.B.E.L.I.E.V.A.B.L.E. Hobble
Someone's trying to compensate for blown decisions earlier in the playoffs. That is a little excessive.
Bertuzzi Babe
Nope. he won't. he'll just say this the other player is a 'first-time offender' and that torres had mutliple dangerous hits. Hell ,if they are going to be lenient with duncan keith for a blatant attempt to injure sedin because he's a 'first-time offender' then we are in big trouble, First-time offender should only be applicable to questionable hits, not blatant attempts to injure. -Vintage Canuck-
That kind of suspension reminds me of Chris Simon and Marty McSorley. Wow.
Beaken
Shanny your a joke! What a gutless pencil pusher he has become. Five games on Keith which was twice as bad, $2500 to Weber for a terrible play which is an absolute disgrace. He doesn't have the balls to do his job if he refuses to punish the so called "stars" of the league. F U Shanny, Torres' hit was late, to the head, but a hockey play no less. Gage
wow, way to excessive, all the cry babies in chicago throw a tantrum when one of there players is hit, but you can hear crickets in the city when there own player throws a way worse cheap shot. what goes around comes around chicago, you cry babies disgust me. Imuzi
So this is worse than the Bertuzzi stuff? I just don't understand sometimes.
Master 112
Don't believe it. Way too many games, especially in comparison to other hits/suspensions. Ludicrous.

-DLC-
Absolutely ridiculous. The NHL continues to fail to provide any balance or consistency. Sure, Raffi's got a bit of a history but it's just how he plays the game - with reckless abandon and enthusiasm. It's usually not targeted at anyone in retaliation or isolating a particular player in order to injure them. He flies around there, hitting everything in sight (hard). I love his game. This has missed the mark completely as Chicago wins another battle of the NHL brass. So Keith takes out Daniel in response to an earlier hit - lines him up in his sites and takes him out for the start of the playoffs and gets a slap on the wrist, but Raffi can sign up for a bowling league for awhile? What a joke. Guess Bettman and the Bozos are issuing another free pass for entry into the Stanley Cup for some teams. If you wear a certain jersey, you get special treatment. Seen it all before - getting worse, not better.
Duncan325
Heres examples of the kinds of actions that this suspensions falls into the category of. Chris Simon slashes Ryan Hollweg in the face. Received a 25 game suspension. Marty Mcsorley slashes Donald Brashear in the head. Received a 23 game suspension. The Bertuzzi/Moore Incident. Bertuzzi received 20 games (significantly more time was lost due to this taking place during the lockout). No video necessary Jesse Boulerice cross-checks Ryan Kesler in the face. Boulerice received a 25 game suspension. Gordie Dwyer abuses officials and leaves the penalty box to fight in a pre season game. Dwyer received a 23 game suspension. Dale Hunter hits Pierre Turgeon well after Turgeon scores a goal. Hunter received a 21 game suspension. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xte-Vtxg-m8 Raffi Torres hits Marian Hossa after he loses the puck. Torres receives a 25 game suspension. This suspension should have been 15 games. Torres can't be allowed to continue to hit players the way he does because it's resulting in injuries but 25 games just doesn't fit the infraction. The next time we see an incident like the ones above, other than Torres/Hossa, are we to expect something much more severe? How many games will be enough to truly come down hard on the ridiculous plays like slashes to the face? 40 games? 60 games? Entire seasons? It will be interesting to see where supplementary discipline goes from here in the NHL.
*VaNcOuVeRCaNuCkS*
wow I was expecting 8 to 10 games 25 games is laughable and shows complete incompetence in the NHL and Shanahan
-Vintage Canuck-
If Torres was still with the Canucks, I could see CDC going nuts right now.
Canucksbiggestfan
I was only expecting 4-5 playoff games, as everyone has been receiving minimal suspensions. Is Shanahan high on this one?!? This is way too big of a suspension, what is the guy thinking? It's as if he spun a wheel and the number it landed on was 25.
-Vintage Canuck-
If Raffi Torres misses any regular-season games next season, he will forfeit $21,341.46 in salary for each one.
Neversummer
Sounds a bit excessive for that particular hit. This is a case where Torres was unfortunately made the poster child for bad hits (although we've seen worst in this year's playoffs). It's a collusion between Shanny and Bettman to calm the waters, since Bettman owns the Coyotes therefore, no one will bitch/complain/whine. Intoewsables
I didn't know the wheel had a 25 game option on it. Tough luck Raffi. Should have just smashed Hossa's head against the glass and taken a $2,500 fine.
