CrippledCanuck
it's pathetic how Canucks fans cry over spilt milk and can't see the forest for the trees...and about a million other fitting idioms.
Cindilette
GMMG said Kassian would be helpful this year. He's wrong so far. Who cares that Hodgson didn't do much in last years playoffs. Doesn't mean Kassian can sit and still be considered as good as Hodgson THIS year.
nuck nit
Go to nhl trade deadline the actual trade was Pahlsson for Hodgson and from what I have seen pahlsson hasnt sat in the pressbox, maybe know your facts before you post. As for hodgson, he really helped buffalo go far in these playoffs...oh wait no he didnt.

nuck nit
I don't recall MG saying that in his interview at the trade deadline. MG said he got Kassian for the future. Obviously, Kassian isn't ready. We just hoped he would be but we rushed him. Who cares about Hodgson. He was a no show last year when he first played in the playoff.
CrippledCanuck
Because all he did this year was score clutch goals against tough opponents (Boston, Chicago, Nashville, Detroit) despite offensively challenged linemates. He was also +8 while he was here, so wasn't floating around in his own zone. And most importantly? He gave us a 2nd PP unit. We don't have that anymore and it's killing us. And it's not like Hodgson would be taking some great player's spot on the lineup. Are you really going to argue that you'd rather have Weise on the ice than Hodgson? PACHEAT727
Finally a line that all makes sense. I approve. Raymond on the fourth and Lapierre on the second. REVERSE SWEEP BABY!!!
nuck nit
He was only as good as the players he played with, if he was so clutch why did he not help buffalo make it past the first round.....oh wait he didnt even help them make the playoffs he was a -7 when he went to buffalo and had 8 points, Sulzer went with him and had 8 points and was a plus 2 so by those numbers we should have kept sulzer over hodgson as it proves hodgson was a more defensive liability as an offensive player and sulzer was his equal in offense and greater in defense
hudson bay rules
Oh gee. Hodgson (a rookie) was placed on a new team (non playoff I might add) and was playing against other teams top players because he was PROMOTED to one of their top lines. I wonder why he faltered a bit down the stretch? (in some peoples eyes anyway.)
cIutch
Laughable to think that Hodgson would buckle in the playoffs. He's only given 100% every game this year, a difference maker in wins against San Jose, Chicago, and Boston and in past pressure situations like the World Juniors, stepped up when it counted. Our 4th leading scorer who made our third line dangerous. A big loss and its inconceivable that he wouldn't have made a difference in at least one of the first 3 games. cIutch
The Hodgson deal was made "with the future in mind" yet our team's objective / best chance is to win now? We could've loaded up with key players for this playoffs through trading Hodgson (as his value was high) yet we moved him for 2 players that have no immediate effect, or any whatsoever. cIutch
its classic how when hodgon was scratched last playoffs , people were calling him a bust and saying the canucks should trade him if there not going to use him when it matters now its the exact same situation and canuck fans are saying the same exact thing do any of you think about the past before you speak on the present?' no . you dont

DeNiro
This is a thread about Kassian being benched. (Along with Gragnani). So Hodgson is naturally part of the conversation of this thread. I don't think this topic will be over this playoffs, nor should it. It was a stupid, knee-jerk, pre-mature move on Gillis's part, probably with a lot of pressure from AV. (Basically AV telling Gillis he doesn't care how much better Hodgson is playing...he's not going to play him in the playoffs so he'd better get something for him NOW) Laughable to think that Hodgson would buckle in the playoffs.
