Weren't the Kings the cup favourites at the beginning of the season? I remember picking them to win.

They were. Everyone had picked them to win because of the Richards deal. However, they played poorly in the season and everyone wrote them off.

I'm still not sold on this team though. I would like to see this team face a little bit of adversity in the playoffs. Every team that wins the cup does sometime during the playoffs.

I would not have thought that we'd (likely) be seeing LA vs Phoenix in the Western Conference Finals. Furthermore, one of LA or Phoenix WILL play for the Cup ... amazing.

It's really not that surprising seeing LA up there. I mean just look at their roster.

OP should close the poll. There were only four of us who called for the Kings in four. Myself, Gradin123, and two others after two games. Not to brag, but the members adding their names today, are just pathetic.

Stewart with 2 tonight. Man he would look nice beside the Sedin's or Kesler.

damn...

I've been saying that one since last season. He's an RFA this summer and currently @ $2.8m, though. Not going to happen, unfortunately. Shoulda drafted him when they had the chance in '06, but they took Grabner instead.

Well it looks like I will have to hope for the Kings against the desert in the conference finals. I hope the Kings are able to dominate the canines like they did the Blues.

I have mixed feelings on LA. Going 8-1 against the top 2 teams in the West is impressive and it's hard to say they aren't on fire. Though at the same time I kind of feel like the Blues and Canucks both played like crap.

Ether way they are going to have an abnormally long break before next round. I am interested in seeing if Quick maintains the red hot play when they return or if he cools down for a bit.

Standing O to the LA Kings. 8-1 against the West's two top teams is unreal.

I don't know that I like a team getting through the first two rounds with no adversity at all. We had to go through hell and back to get into the conference finals last year. But hey, if no team can stop them what can they do about it right?

Wonder how long this'll go on for...

Oh??

I can see Richards and Carter playing extra hard against the team that traded them so soon after they had just signed their new contracts.

This is an interesting thought. I mean it's hard to imagine that Carter and Richards could be anymore motivated considering they would already be playing in the Cup Finals. But sometimes being to motivated leads to players pressing and struggling or just trying to do to much (basically making it to personal).

Then you have the wildcard theory... The old party crew gets back together and hits Olde City Philadelphia Radulov and Kostitsyn style.

Dustin Brown = Machine.

Kings are going to win the Cup (I predicted that the Kings were going to beat St. Looie in five games because the Kings are so strong -- I guess they are even stronger than I had anticipated).

How weird would a western conference match-up between Arizona and California be?!? What's next, an expansion into Latin America?!?

In current format, 7 bottom-4 seed teams have made the Cup Finals (1995 NJ, 2004 CGY, 1994 VAN, 1999 BUF, 2003 ANA, 2010 PHI, 2006 EDM).

If LA beats Phoenix (assumming PHX moves on), that would mean that LA beat the 1-2-3 seeds en route to the Finals. How many teams have done that before...
It only takes one hard fought series to make a rivalry

And only one of those teams have won the cup in those specific years.
