the boards
What's wrong with the Western Conference? Hitchcock, Sutter, Tippet and Trotz is what's wrong with it. They are murder to watchable hockey and the playoff results have setback the entertainment value for years to come. There will be imitators galore. Next thing you know guys like Malhotra will go in the 1st round of the draft. Those coaches are the disease. The cure: -widen the ice surface to 90-95' (not quite Olympic size but half-way as they're experimenting in Finland) sacrifice 1 row on each side. -get rid of 1 ref; takes up 25% more space and offers nothing. -call everything in the book as you're supposed to and give linesmen additional powers to make the same. -reduce all goalie equipment to something circa late 80's early 90's. -go back to all wooden sticks (compensation to goalies for the above in form of reduced velocity) the new stuff is pure cr*p and only function they seem to serve is them breaking can force refs to give penalties to hackers that should be penalized anyway if refs were so motivated. SimplyHockey
The western conference series is going 4-1, 4-1, 4-1, 4-2 while the eastern conference series is going 4-3, 4-3, 4-2, 3-2. 3 of the match ups in the western conference has one team completely dominating the other team in 5 games. The eastern conference has two game 7s and possibly a third game 7. The east games were much closer in skill it seems.
TotesMagotes
Goaltending. Just hoping offense prevails in the SCF. We don't want another dead puck era.

Don Draper
All these defensive minded coaches/teams are what's wrong with the west.. Their systems work but have horrible entertainment value with low scoring games. First time in a long time that I'm losing interest before the first round is even over.. menace
I am pulling for Philly to win it this year. I could not handle a Western team pulling it off.

Danthecanucksfan
Pheonix vs Florida in the Stanley cup finals, you heard it here first. (hahaahahaha) no but really , looking at how things have gone so far..... no team is safe, very surprised by the amount of heavyweights that have been knocked out and potentially knocked out in the first round. wattevr
To the question of "who would have predicted this in their hockey playoff pool?" My wife. I'm pretty much out already and she's batting 1.000 in the west. And she picks like the tsn monkey. Sheesh.
