Underappreciated? No. Try Disappointment, Embarrassment and Failure when it comes to this organization's playoff history.

Everything was there for the Canucks to win it all last season. Best Record in the League. Home Ice. And what do they do? crap the bed, which is what this organization is known for doing in the playoffs. 41 years and counting of EPIC FAILURE.

I've been there for every one of those years Pal and I'm not giving up. This current regime and era is the best it has ever been. We need to tinker not blow the whole f***ing thing up. When I'm not certain the management are not accountable or willing to do whatever it takes to win I'll express it by cancelling my season tickets.

I listened to the entire conference today and heard a man who feels complicit for not recognizing some team issues. Today he was not prepared to answer the hard questions because everything deserves a proper review.

Last year was disappointing, we all thought we had it, the best chance in our history but we lost the war of playoff attrition. It sucks, but I didn't turn my back on them then and I won't do it now. Frankly the only time I ever considered packing it in with the 'Nucks was when JJ Daigneault was drafted and made his way to the floor on crutches. That was a big WTF?

I'm glad you don't have the reins.

Mike Gillis needs to do exactly what he has been doing since he became GM. Gillis' professional process is excellent. Whether the team is looking great or looking like they need improvment Gillis is always looking to improve the team.

Every team in this league can win. Some teams can only win if everything goes right for them. These teams rely things like having their young players having breakout seasons, getting exceptional goaltending while getting outshot every night and having the majority of your team staying healthy for the majority of the season or playoffs. This is rare but does happen. ie. (Phoenix/Florida).

Other teams can win even if the worst case senario happens such as having significant injuries, or some players that under acheive. These are the better teams in the league and this is what Mike Gillis has created in Vancouver. A team with plenty of depth and star power that can win while losing man games to injury, and have the depth to encourage players to overacheive by having good nhl capable players furthur down the depth chart.

Mike Gillis stands up for his players which is a noble trait and one that makes players want to play for this team. knowing that the orginization has their back. If the players that are in Vancouver now did not love playing here enough to take a pay cut we could not feild the team we have.

However just because Gillis commends his players in defeat does not mean that there won't be any changes. Gillis does not rest on his laurels and will continue to try to make this team better, and because of the way he goes about it, he will probably suceed.

Only one team wins the stanley cup each year and there is no sure fire way to win it. Last year we got darn close, this year we had just as strong of a team but didn't. The Gillis way is a great way to build a team and will keep us as a cup favorite for many years to come.

When you win the President's Trophy 2 years in a row you don't overhaul the team - you tweak it.

Hey OP, next time I run to the store do you want me to get you the "super absorbant" Tampons with wings? Seriously, I am a pretty laid back dude, but all of this disdain is starting to piss me off. I have watched this team since 1992, have followed them from California, Chicago and Dallas with little to no media exposure until the new millineum, yet I still love this team. You are entitled to your feelings, but turn on the team? Really? Go cheer for the Blue Jackets. They could use a real "winner" such as yourself to raise the morale.

"Just cause I am from Cali does not mean I am not a Canuck. We are all Canucks!"

Special thanks to Marleau 12 for the siggy...

I wish there were some way to see who it was who gave the OP nine pluses for that drivel.
Orland Kurtenbach and Dennis Kearns had just been torched 8-1 by the Habs, but they still took time to come out to meet us, some fellow BC boys who were playing hockey in Montreal. THAT"S what being a Canuck is!

the Lu transaction will spawn all sort of changes this off season. I think that alone will make us a vastly different team next year.

Most of what MG inherited was from Burke and Nonis. Most of the moves he's made have been questionable, haven't worked out and came with big contracts. I find it amazing MG wouldn't re-sign Raffi because length of term and Ehroff because he wanted too much, but yet gives a huge contract to Lu.

Really and tell us a Gm that didn't inherited a core from the previous Gm? Are you GIVING full credit to Burke for winning the cup with the Ducks, Or did that have alot to do with what Burkie had inherted frim the previous Duck's GM?
Geez we could say that Burke and Nonis inherited from Quinn and Iron Mike. So whats the difference?
And your telling us Burke ,Nonis and Quinn never made questionable trades as a Gm here? Remember Burkie quote " Im not going to pay another penney more" Or I'll drive him to the airport myself. How about the Goalie of the future in Kevin Weekes. And how did that trade worked out for Brian? A goaltender that became a headcase that lasted less then a year. Funny how some people complain how Gillis handled Hodgson. But you really think that Burke was still Gm here that he would put up with Cody's crap that Gillis did?
How about Quinn's trade with Jeff Brown for Kucera and Dowd? Or maybe Nonis trading second and third round picks at the trade deadline for rentals in Sopel,Smolinski,Carney,Weinwich, and Mika Nooranan A goaltender that played 4 games, because Nonis wanted to keep the old core together.
How is Burke and Nonis doing with their 5 year plan in Toronto? Missing the playoffs in the first four years has done wonders in Leaf land.
If you even bothered to listen to what Gillis stated at the news conference maybe you would find some of your answers. NOBODY is perfect. Lui is willing to waive is NTC. Gillis stated he takes full responsibility for his team's perfomance. He stated he wants to get younger, stonger with skilled players.
But if Detroit had your thinking in the first few years of contention they should have fired Scotty Bowman. Funny thing though when Scotty took over Detroit he already inherited a team that was in contention . And it took Bowman another four years before he got them the cup.Go figure hey Rock!

Why do posters like the OP and those who sympathise always act like it is MG and AV who have been trying to win a cup for forty years?

So far I would say they have had a pretty good record. An award winning GM and the winningest Canucks coach ever, so why would fans want to drive them out?

MG has made changes, he constantly tries to improve the team. Some changes may not have worked as well as he would have liked but even these can't be called busts. Many on here also act like it is only the Canucks who are trying to improve. Every team in the league wants and tries to improve.

Let's let them finish the job, after all they haven't done badly so far.

Oh for FFS, give it a rest. And educate yourself on the CoHo/Kassian trade or try to be a little more forward thinking.

Glad to see Aquilini has substantially more brains than you do.

Really, eh? I'm sure he already has plenty of tar and feathers stuffed into his purse, too.

you know its a bad thread when i agree with BB. do us a favor, turn on this organization and become a calgary fan...good bye and good riddance!

Coho was a headache and if he was MG's headache he was AV's and most of AV's headaches become the teams headache. CoHo isnt really mature enough to play in the NHL either, thats why we got rid of him and sent him to a team that has no such thing as depth and has to use him. that, and he obviously didnt want to be here so why keep it in the locker room?

give kass a year to develop then he'll be the same age as Coho is now. he'll fill a much more needed role, be a productive member of the team, and not a headache. say the move was questionable all you want but unless your a GM or pro scout with the organization you have no leg to stand on. LA wouldve tossed CoHo around like a rag doll. the idea that he'd have been the key to our cup victory this year and solely propel us past LA is pure blashpemy.

av is the organizations most winningest coach. the "excuses" would be old if it all didnt happen just last friggin year!

Pretty easy to figure that out, same posters on every thread about Gillis.
