How has he done that? From what I remember, he said he'd be willing to waive his NTC. Then speculation has said that he wants a trade. So how has he announced a list of teams?

"The Toronto Maple Leafs and Chicago Blackhawks are also on the 33-year-old goalie's list, although Luongo could have reservations accepting a trade to either team given the fiercely competitive market that feeds off the Maple Leafs and the emotional scars that may still exist from his battles with the Blackhawks."

From TSN, they seem to have seen this so-called list.

As MG said, he hasn't made or submitted a list. All TSN is doing is stirring up the pot.

By just blatantly making this stuff up without any proof?

I'm just baffled by the people that refuse to connect the dots. Luongo says A - "If I'm here, that's great. If I'm not, that's good too" B - "I'll waive my NTC if asked". But, suddenly, it's NOTHING BUT RUMOURS when TSN, a credible media outlet, informs us that Lou has asked for a trade and created a list of teams he'd find acceptable?

Seems legit.

Not only that, but do you honestly expect MG to come out and confirm that he HAS to move Luongo now? Thereby, potentially, decreasing his trade value?

It's just as bad as all the people that couldn't bring themselves to accept anything bad about Hodgson. Guess how that turned out ...

Well, now James Duthie is reporting it.

Luongo did ask for a trade

Before: (April 24)

Posted Imagejames duthie @tsnjamesduthie
  • Contrary to some Twitter talk, Luongo has not submitted a list of teams to the Canucks.

After: (April 25)

Posted Imagejames duthie @tsnjamesduthie
  • Sources say Roberto Luongo will submit a short list of teams he'd waive his no-trade to go to next week. Toronto will be on it.

Wasn't James Duthie the first one to report this? Dan Murphy got it from him did he not?

Either way, if James Duthie is breaking the news before Mackenzie or Lebrun, I'm a little suspicious.

Don't be too surprised if eventually Schneider is traded instead!

First I heard of it was on a Kypreos tweet.

As much as his Ranger flag-waving irritates me, he does have some credible sources....

Orland Kurtenbach and Dennis Kearns had just been torched 8-1 by the Habs, but they still took time to come out to meet us, some fellow BC boys who were playing hockey in Montreal. THAT"S what being a Canuck is!

If you haven't realized right now, which is obvious, I was comparing how his good regular season career numbers have been carried into the playoffs. His GAA is .01 point up in the playoffs, while his save % is only down 2 points. How is that not consistent?

Sure, his career regular season stats and playoff stats are consistent with each other, but you have to look beyond that. If you break down the different playoff years and even rounds within those years, you can see wild inconsistencies. I mean, I already broke it down for you, you don't even have to do it yourself, so why are we still arguing about this? You're wrong, period.

If Schneider goes and Luongo stays. Can you imagine how bad it's going to be next season.

Media/Fan Ammunition

1) Luongo was on the bench in the most important games last season

2) He requested a trade

3) We had to trade Schneider

4) Cap Hit

5) If Schneider starts out well, everyone will jump all over Gillis.

If move Lu and Schneider has a less than stellar season then the headlines will be the same, but with a name change.

Cory Schnieder is the next Patrick Roy, do you even watch him play.

Cory is 26, by the time Patrick was 26 he won the Stanley Cup, the Conn Smythe, 2 Vezinas, 3 Jennings (co-winner) and played in 3 all star games. 157 regular season wins and 47 playoff wins.

Cory is a Jennings co-winner, 38 regular season wins and 1 playoff win.

Hmmm, hopefully if this is true it doesn't affect the return we'd get on moving him. GM's will definately use the fact that "he wants out" as an excuse to lower the value on a premier starting goalie.

if anything this make things better because if Lu says he wants out he will not get the option (i am assuming) to list the teams he would go to. so basically he says get me out and they say ok we will choose who......
makes sense to me.
sucks though if true but make MG's life easier because now all he needs to do is get the best possible return for him and not worry about who to keep.

Nick Kypreos is such a loser.

Starting a rumor as if it's a fact that Luongo asked for a trade when it quite obviously wasn't. Sick of Kypreos. Can't believe people still take him seriously. Anyone see him on hockey central? I can't watch that show when he's on.

Nah, there is no chance in hell that Luongo would put Columbus down as a team he'd be traded to.

Got to take a big contract in return, or no dice.

Nash is tough cause of where he is. If Columbus gets sold and moved to Quebec city, then yes. Don't hold your breath.

Lecavalier is a real possibility.

Ovechkin isn't going anywhere, although he also has a stupid contract. You never know I guess..

There are nightmare scenarios like Carter too...

I don't care, if Luongo voluntarily asked to be traded out of Vancouver. I can feel the stress he has been having from the Vancouver fans, and perhaps, other NHL fans. If he moves to another team, I'll cheer for the team he joins. This is my way of respecting Luongo until the end.

I have this feeling too. When we just got knocked out of playoff, rumors are everywhere that management or coach could be changed. But it seems that everything is settling down and AV is very likely back with MG has already been back... who knows what will happen for Luongo?

People aren't taking into account that there could be some bidding for Lu.A team he hasn't put on his so called list may inquire. If Tampa does ask then Hedman should be the only player they have that the Canucks not only want but hedman may be the only quality player available by the fact all of the top players on the bolts have NTC's.

Tampa's cap is only at 60 million so they have some room.I would offer up Lu, Edler or Ballard and the Canucks 1st .If they get the Canucks 1st then it also gives Tampa the option of trading their 1st round pick(10th) in what is a weak draft . It is overpayment but when was the last time the Canucks had a 6'6 229 lb D with huge upside. His numbers aren't up their yet but he could eventually QB the powerplay and he will probably have Hamhuis for a partner.

I guess it all depends on how badly Tampa wants to fill the big weakness they have had on this team for a long time. They also get Lu at his prime for decent value. Also I wonder if a weak Gm like Gillis has the balls to overpay to strengthen the D for the future.
