What Would The Return Have To Be For Us To Trade Schneiderman Instead Of Luo?

Recommended Posts

It would have to be insanely ridiculous, so much so that MG would be an absolute fool not to take it. At this point, the Canucks seem to have made up their minds that they're going ahead with Schneider as their new #1 and goalie of the future. He will be signed soon enough and then he will be considered an untouchable. At this point his value will absolutely go through the roof and MG could ask the world for him. Lui is signed and there is no rush to trade him yet until we know for sure that Schneider is in fact the man. Once Schneider is signed, probably close to the draft, MG will make it known to everyone he wants to keep him as the new starter. Teams will be desperate and eager to make a deal with Vancouver for him, but MG is in the driver's seat at this point and he won't be dealing just his rights anymore so he will be able to command a crazy good package for him. The thing is, I really do think MG wants to go ahead with Schneider but once he's signed, the offer has to be absolutely out of this world for him to trade him. This would be a good way to up his value way more than it is now if he's going to be listening to offers at the draft. Schneider will be signed BEFORE the draft and like any good GM, MG will be open to LISTENING to what other teams would give up to get him but as I said before, at this point a team would have to extremely overpay. If MG doesn't like what he hears, he goes with Schneider and moves Luongo for the best return he can get. If MG trades Schneider, it will be for a boatload of talent in the form of high picks and bluechip prospects that will lessen the blow immensely. We then would convince Luongo to rescind his rumoured trade request and hand over the reigns to him once more with him KNOWING he is the #1. One way or another, this goalie controversy will officially end when one of them is traded but you can bet MG will first find out what maximized return he could get for either of them first before deciding which to go officially forward with. It will be interesting to watch.

People are undervaluing Luongo on these boards. Yes, Schneider will give us a bigger return only because of his potential and age. But Luongo is still an elite, top 5 goal tender in this league that 20 or so other teams would love to have instead of their current goaltender.

Lu can still fetch a top pairing Dman, or a top 4 dman/top 6 fwd + pick/prospect imo

EDIT: 'top 4 dman' had fwd by mistake

We need a #1 D-man, but we won't get one for Schneider alone. We would have to package Shneider a d-man & prospect or #1 draft pick to get it done, and who's giving up #1 D men right now? Webber will stay in Nashville unfortunatley he's my #1 choice. Chara's not going anywhere, maybe Seabrook or Keith?

2 high scoring forwards, plus a quality defense player such as Weber or Suter and a prospect !

Sadly Nashville doesn't have a goalie problem.. so I propose the following......

To Chicago: Schneids

To Vancouver: Toews, Kane, Seabrook and Keith <_< plus a prospect! Cory is so worth it.. plus can you imagine if he only signed with them for a year then came back to us :bigblush: and we just robbed Chicago of their core.. Tehehe. A girl can dream!
