What Would The Return Have To Be For Us To Trade Schneiderman Instead Of Luo?

43 posts in this topic

Think of it like this...

What would it have taken to get Brodeur out of New Jersey in 1994?

My asking price would be either an elite defenseman that can run the powerplay or a 40 goal winger, plus another roster player (preferably a playmaker for the second line) and a first round pick.

You dont need to. If i had a Luongo jersey, and if Luongo gets traded... I'll still wear my Luongo jersey with pride

To whoever said "Marchand..." for Schneider.

#1. Yeah..I'm sure Danny will be really IMPRESSED...NOT!

#2. If you think the Bruins would be open to moving "the weasel (rat)", I don't think so.

#3. After he speedbagged Danny, you think that'll impress the locker room with him putting on a 'Nucks uniform???

Why the hell would they want to trade young Schneider, when he is clearly on the upswing of his career and has proven his skill in high stress games and in the playoffs? I think to trade Lu is a much better prospect for the team, since he has proven his UN reliability. I like Lu as a person, he is classy and a decent guy, but a little too unpredictable in the net. Some night's he's on fire, but mostly he's a little sluggish and leaky. It just doesn't make sense to trade Schneider at this point. Plus, the money Lu is making would open up to buy some more talent on the ice.

Last night another person on the radio was saying that keeping Luongo might be a better way to go to keep the current core of players intact, and at the same time getting either a better, younger player and maybe a higher pick or two, than what Luongo would garner. After all, the Canucks are going to get an unwanted contract/player coming back to replace his contract. MG is known for his outside of the box reasoning, so this makes some sense to me. Schneider, although he's younger, and the most sexy choice for this fan-base seems to be the better choice to be moved in my opinion.

If you paired Schneids with another high-calbire player, you could get a franchise d-man

A first line winger (Parise type)

A second line playmaker (Ray Whitney type)

A third line shutdown guy (2007 Sami Pahlsson kind)

An elite, shutdown defenseman (Suter, Weber type)

A grade A prospect (Brett Connolly, Ryan Johansen type)

And a top 5 pick

I think a high pick and good young player would definitely cause Gillis some sleepless nights.
