In the nba not only is it common practice to sit players after clinching, the coach of the spurs and three of their best players were flying home during the last regular game of the season.

I'm in favour for sitting guys in the NHL as long as they summon energy for effective offense.

Someone should find that "playoff extra gear" that everyone believed they were going to use. Really don't think that resting (maybe for the Sedins and some core guys, e.g. Hamhuis, Kesler, Bieksa, Higgins?) will really do much, maybe for the last couple of games at most, though they need to be mentally rested and focused, which they weren't in the first round.

We have to keep in mind too that the Canucks had a short offseason this year and not a lot of time to rest up for another grind. I don't think the 'rest' issue will be as serious next season because we lost in the first round this year, but of course its never a bad idea to rest some players a few games before the post-season.

Since we are always injured, and there are too many games in the season:

How about, once the Canucks are making the playoffs (like they did this year since January, and probably will next year), they rest all players for 10 games and use their depth to get by. Make them only away games to not effect season ticket holders or local fans. Each player only plays half of the away games for the middle part of the season.

Of course, that only works if your team is going to make the playoffs.

Before you lambast the idea, consider this: It wouldn't have hurt us this past year at all.

no, but for gods sake bench players that dive. Kesler should have been benched in the playoffs after the dives he took. We do not want to be a diving team so how about the coach or management steps in and teaches the players a lesson. I mean players get less ice time or even sit out for a few games if they aren't playing well, so how about giving the same treatment to the divers?

By rolling 4 lines??

We know that AV will always shorten the bench. If we are up by a goal...shorten the bench to protect the lead. If we are down by a goal...shorten the bench to get a goal. No wonder our guys are injured. Seriously...we need a 4th line that AV trusts to play 10 minutes. But knowing AV...that'll never happen.
