I'm hoping that the Devils are actually rated better this year. They have crap ratings in NHL 12, especially the defense. Makes it harder to use my favourite team.

Brodeur's an 85, but he still surprisingly is a beast in the game despite that.

I think it's because his poise is so high, but yeah, the Devils do need to be re-rated, and fairly.

The devils are very underrated, should be up there in the top 6 or 7 teams overall.

Agreed with you on Brodeur. I played a guy online once who had Brodeur as his goalie and I couldn't beat him even if my life depended on it. I was dominating him too :sadno:

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

On the topic of teams being rated incorrectly, what's the deal with Calgary being one of the best rated teams every single year?

I was asking some questions to a guy who play tested the game recently, and it's in the NHL 12 thread. I figured I'd bring the minor details here:

I will say I've played the NHL series for as long as I can remember, and the changes to the skating system makes it feel like NHL 13 is the first one I've played. I got used to it but it did take some time
Some people will love it, some people will hate it, no in between

I'm not allowed to get into detail about the finer points of the AI improvement, but i will say a couple things.
1) The AI on the PK is great, no more wasting time , it's on their stick and usually slapped down the ice right away.
2) I got caught with the AI picking off a few D to D passes in the offensive zone and going on partial breaks.
3) you'll probably looking at scoring at least a goal less / game than in NHL 12, I won't say why.
4) The main screen is gorgeous

Yup you do pick a team once you load the game and the results are one of my favourite parts.
No we didn't really have time to play EASHL , because we had to work on something else that was really fun but took a while.
Loading still sucked

What NHL 13 needs is to punish teams that dodge. If you choose not to play a team, then your search time should be increased. It's ridiculous how long it takes for top teams to even find a game.

Sometimes it takes 2 hours.

I play EASHL, not versus.

I can't play versus because it seems like there are too many teams who's players are right hand shooters. I can't dangle/drag and etc with players like that lol. I just try to pick the team with the most left handers sometimes.

I play both occasionally. And I can left or right handed without a problem.

Are you kidding me? That's what the Canucks looked like at the play test?

Come on, I'm a Canuck homer and I think that's a little high....

Booth 87? Hansen 85??? Kassian 82?? Bieksa 86?

I've always wanted the Canuck D to be rated higher, but wow. Hamhuis does deserve that 87 though.

Oh okay, it's one of those things. There was one year a couple years ago where they lowered most of the players ratings. I guess they heightened them again.

Did you catch any Devils' ratings? :P

Corey Schneider at 84 and Lu at 90? I'd think Schneids would be at least 86 or so.

In my opinion, they should make EASHL with the "Be a Pro" view only. It would be much more realistic and not everyone can pass like Gretzky. If I'm behind the opposition's net on the forecheck with my back turned towards the board, how would I be able to see if my teammates were open at the point?

The same goes with defensemen who go back to get the puck. They're being forechecked, they don't have time to look to see who's open. This will cause forechecking to much more effective and defenseman's to make quick decisions. Bad passes will turn to turnovers and etc.

Just my opinion. It makes the game a lot harder but more realistic.

What's annoying when I play defense in anything, versus or EASHL is that they ruined the quick pass. I can no longer just snap the pass back as soon as I get it cause its random but rather my player holds it for a second or two which makes a huge difference in if I get checked or not.

That's a thing they changed from 11 to 12. It allows players on the other team to establish a better forecheck rather than for defensemen to get the puck out instantly making the dump play useless at times.

While you skate back for the puck, hold the pass button. Pre-charge the pass and when you get the puck, release the pass button and it'll pass right away.

Yeah I have no problem grabbing and releasing the puck right away in 12. You just need to pre-charge it.

Compared to the overall ratings of players in NHL12 that is super high. Looks like 8 years of BeAGm has gone by for some of them.

But if some are insisting it is another "movement" of what an overall is worth, then it could make more sense. The same happened in last years game compared to 11. I think what they did was add some attributes as well as switch attributes around in the 3 main types "offense" "defense" and "Athleticism" which can affect a players overall... Maybe EA has finally realized Hamhuis's great defensive ability, and maybe defense ability is just as likely to boost an overall rating as offense is.

I tried playing 07, I think, for PC a few months ago with updated rosters of the 07-08 season. Impossible. The goaltending in the NHL games is such garbage. I even jacked up the goalie ratings to 99 for everything and they're still posting stats over 3 and under .900 on a consistent basis. It's not realistic and therefore ruins the fun.

Haha I remember Gretz doing an interview and he said on one play, he looked in the reflection of the glass and threw it out front for a tap in. Dayum.
