Ryan Murray.

Lu for 5th + ??? overall

5th overall + ??? for 3rd overall

With the 3rd overall pick grab Murray.

Viola! A future Norris D-man with the ability to make an immediate impact on our D-corps

Edit:

The reason why I choose Murray over Dumba is that Murray's game looks very much like Scott Neidermayer's whereas Dumba looks more like Phaneuf,

I'd say we need Phaneuf more than Neidermayer, we kinda lack someone who can throw really, really big hits.

Let's say Murray becomes Neidermayer and Dumba Becomes Phaneuf. You never ever pick Phaneuf over Neidermayer.

I hope you were kidding :o

Phaneuf hasn't lived up to his potential, he was fantastic in his rookie year, and besides, the scouting reports don't say what player the prospects will turn into, more what player they look like when they're playing.

And yeah. I think that the Canucks are in need of a player like Phaneuf, someone who really scares the opposition with his physical play, and who's got a really good, hard shot, more than we need someone like Neidermayer, who's a better scater, but softer....

Phaneuf may be a big body and has a hard shot, but he's horrendous getting that shot on net.

Plus you don't need physicality when you have positioning.

Neidermayer is one of the best that's ever played the game, I can't even say Phaneuf ranks in the top 10 right now.

I know comparing players in their draft is idiotic, I was just replying to what you stated about what we need right now.

Wilson, Thrower, Frk in that order for me.

Unless there's a guy from Denmark, then we gotta take him!

Defenseman because Rielly is what this team needs.

100% in agreement.

Yes, I know that Neidermayer was much, much better than Phaneuf will ever be, but you can't compare players like this.

Since we were out first round we can pick anywhere between 15-22. Does anyone know how they detirmine who picks where? Big difference in 7 slots

we are 26th. it goes like this:
30 - Cup champ
29 - Cup runner up
28 - semi final loser with best record
27 - semi final loser with worst record
26-14 arranged by final standings, including division leaders placed at the top. since we were the presidents trophy winners, we get 26th

Big nasty winger to play on a line with Kassian.

Best Player Available. The draft isn't somewhere you draft for needs, it's where you draft a player you determine will be the better hockey player.

Ask any GM and they'll say the same thing.

As for my hopeful picks I'd say martin Frk or Slater Koekkek if he drops

1st round and maybe 2nd round,

Best player available

The following draft whatever your system is lacking. (Wingers, defencemens, etc etc) however It's quite obvious Gillis will always draft the best player available based.

Personally I don't know much about these players, Dalton Thrower only because he's a B.C boy who idolize Canucks Bieska, it be really cool to draft some B.C born players, as we noticed Chicago has thrived on drafting players from our province.

but honestly not an exciting draft if you don't have a pick between 13 to 1. Honestly speaking.

Players Nikolaj Ehlers have been compared too by the fan base of the Vancouver Canucks.

1 Pavel Bure

2 Markus Naslund

3 Nathan Mackkinon

4 Jonathan Drouin.

5 Jonathan Tavares

http://bleacherrepor...d-top-prospects

combine results.  Ehlers 5'11 162 lbs of solid rock.

Trade Luongo++ for the 4th overall pick, take Reilly, with our pick (26th), take Martin Frk. Btw, wasn't Frk expected to go top 10 or something at the beginning of the year?

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

Matthew Dumba :bigblush:

Gillis should really look at what old Wally Buono did the other day, trading up to get 2nd overall in the CFL draft to get what he needed/wanted.

Im not saying trade up to 2nd overall. Im saying trade high enough to get a guy like matt dumba or another defenseman who is probably either ready to step in next season or a year away.

Schneider + 26th for 2nd overall... If Oilers go with Murray, we take Yakupov. He could be ready this upcoming season to slot into the second line.

If we're able to get a early pick, i'd say Collberg. I remember when I was younger and played hockey and faced him. They won with 8-1 and he scored 7 goals and assist on the other goal. And the assist was sick, he came in on a two on one and he dropped the puck like 20 cm from the goalline and the other guy was just able to bash it in. (I was the goalie, never been so embarresed by a single player like he embaressed me)

We should trade up to get Griffen Rheinhart (could be a typo sorry)
By far the best d-man in the draft this year.
