(Proposal) Van-Njd, Van-Nyr, Van-Tor + Signings

Recommended Posts

Hi, I've been thinking about this for awhile, and I feel like I have come up with a pretty good off-season plan.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To Toronto:

-Roberto Luongo

-Manny Malhotra

-3rd Round Pick (2014)

To Vancouver:

-Jake Gardiner

-Mike Komisarek

-Jesse Blacker

Roberto would put Toronto into the playoffs, then Malhotra also helps because one of the biggest reasons they have been missing the playoffs is penalty killing so he would really help in that area.

Gradiner is obvisously a very good young D-man and Blacker is also a really good D-man, he's in the AHL right now and would be atleast for next year but he is a very good young prospect, and Komisarek is a cap dump and to even it out, we could either trade him for next to nothing, buy him out, or bury him in the minors.

Here's some stuff on Blacker.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To New York (Rangers):

-Chris Higgins

-Anton Rodin

-Nicklas Jensen

-5th Round Pick (2013)

-6th Round Pick (2013)

To Vancouver:

-Chris Kreider

-Shane McColgan

I know it may seem like an overpayment to some but that's probably what it will take to get Kreider, he brings alot, size, speed, a good shot, goes to the dirty areas and so-on, he is an Upgrade on Jensen and he is already NHL ready and next season he will be even more developed.

Also McColgan is (in my opinion atleast) an underrated prospect, a smaller prospect, offensive minded, more of a playmaking winger, who isn't afraid to drop the gloves. He could be a 5th Round steal if he can round his game and develop properly

He scored 62 points in 67 games (21G,45A) last year and this season scored 64 points in 70 games (18G,46A)

Here's some stuff on McColgan:

And also some stuff on Kreider (for those who don't know):

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To New Jersey:

-Kevin Bieksa

-Mason Raymond

-Yann Sauve

-1st Round Pick (2013)

To Vancouver:

-Travis Zajac

-Eric Gelinas

If you think this is an overpayment, it's what it would take, Zajac is one of there best players, and if Parise won't re-sign it would take more to get Zajac and I feel he is what we need. he's a big solid two-way/playmaking centre, he has a great shot, and is good at making plays, he's great on faceoffs, can kill penalties, be physical, he really brings alot, and seems to be a playoff preformer.

Gelinas is a very good young defensemen, he has a great skillset, he's big (6-3, 190), there's alot to like, he has a bomb of a shot, likes to rush the puck, can join the rush, quarterback the powerplay, he can kill penalites, be physical, he has an absolute ton of potential, and should definetly develop well and reach his potential.

His weakness is the same problem Bieksa was having with his game, he tends to "chase the game" and always tries to make things happen, he just has to learn to "let the game come to him" but it's nothing that coaching and experience can't fix.\

(these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion)

SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $62,374,167; BONUSES: $975,000

CAP SPACE (24-man roster): $1,925,833

-Biron and Lack can compete for the back up job, I just put lack in it here, but either way I have them both at the same cap hit.

-We all know Salo isn't a 7 d-man so don't flame over that, he may not even play in the NHL next year and if he does come back he won't play all 82, he will sit out a few and probably have an injury at some point, and also with they way our d-men go down it's rare that we have them all in the line-up at once.

-I know Hansen isn't a 4th liner, I have been saying that but if we put that line together we could use them as a traditional checking 3rd line, and they would be a great line in the playoffs and we could balance out the ice time more throughout the season.

-And finally Zajac or Kesler could play wing, it really doesn't matter which is where I just put it like that for now.

Some of the trades may be a little off but with some "fine tuning" it could be done.

Well, anyone have some feedback or thoughts?

I like the line-up but some of those trades won't go through because of clauses (as mentioned above)

Also, I'm not too sure if Biron would sign here to be in the press box or in the minors.

Well Gillis doesn't seem to think Lack is ready, so that's why I requested that we sign Biron so if he isn't we have a good back-up who can play 20-30 games, and if Lack is ready then we can waive Biron and he will get claimed by a team who needs him.

Toronto wont trade Gardiner let alone add Blacker to the deal, I believe Gardiner is valued even higher than their pick.

Overpayment for Kreider, but probably what it would take to get him.

I don't think Vancouver needs Zajac. I think if Jersey deals him they will price him as a second line center, you can probably get a winger cheaper than what it will take to get Zajac.

Well Komisarek kind of decreases the value on there side so I see it sort of like this.

Luongo = Gardiner + Komisarek

Malhotra + 3rd = Blacker

But I think there's still a little value left in the 1st part for the second because Komisarek isn't really worth anything.

If this were to work, losing Juice would be sad but outside of that I like the proposal.

However, I highly doubt NYR trades Kreider (even for that package) and I doubt NJD trades Zajac. They are both valuable players on teams going deep into the playoffs. Niether of New York or New Jerset will want to make such a big overhaul this offseason I would think.

As bad as Komisarek is I doubt they are that desperate to get rid of him especially at the cost of a potential #1 defenseman. If they were really desperate they might give him the Jeff Finger treatment and make him waiver fodder. Malhotra also gives them another overpaid center which they already have in Connolly.

Also would you really want both Komisarek and Ballard eating up over 9m cap space for the next two years because it essentially also handcuffs Vancouver from making any other moves which includes Edler's next contract.

A lot of moves, and I'd think it's too many even if part of it is to get prospects for the farm. You and Liberace should get your own subforum for crazy, outlandish proposals that are in no way subtle changes.

Well that could be worked around, I'm sure there Limited NTC's, Manny's probably is atleast, and I'm sure they wouldn't stand in the way of our team getting what would help us.

I don't think those are guys who would want to be portrayed as selfish.
