Next season will be the 2013 Stanley Cup, two years prior to our 100th Anniversary of a Vancouver team winning the only Stanley Cup in the cities history (Yes I know the two teams are not related).

So with uncertainty on the direction of our franchise. The simple question is.

Do you think the Canucks can win a Stanley Cup prior to or by 2015?

Yay? Nay?

Most of the pieces are there, just a matter of adding a couple more and staying healthy, they`re fully capable of winning one before 2015, yes

Nay.

We should be well aware of these stupid statistics/concidences and those stars in the sky that tell us we're going to win (whether it's being up 2-0 against Boston or that garbage Olympic trend).

We'll never win.

I would be shocked if any Canadian team wins the Stanley Cup while Bettman is running the show!

If there's a year to win it, it would have been this year. Darn, they're not the President's trophy winner 2 years in a row for nothing. Why, why, why!!!! Aaargh!!! After the first round, there were no Red Wings, Blackhawks, Bruins, Sharks, Penguins! Aaaargh!! I'm still not over it! Imagine Kings or Coyotes representing the west in SCF? Aaargh!

No, our window has shut on us, get ready for the fun of rebuilding once managment figures out this team can't win the cup. Should only take a few years for them to figure this out.

It seems you need an elite #1 D man to win a cup, so unless Gillis gets us that then no, or if Edler can take the next step up and become that guy. We need Weber, very badly, but we also need some more toughness and grit in the top 6 which will be a tough job to do with many spots already taken up Sedin, Sedin, Burrows, Kesler and Booth.

If Gillis keeps on making bad trades/signings I'd say no.

With our roster, we should be able to contend for another 3 years before the rebuilders hit their prime , by that time it'll depend on what Gillis does with the older players.

All of his signings weren't that bad. Sure the Hodgson trade, the Mathieu Schneider and Steve Bernier signings come to mind, but he did add Hamhuis and we had Samuelsson. Not to mention a 50 point d-man in Ehrhoff.

In terms of winning it, yes it will be done, hopefully next year if not in 2014. Winning it in 2015 would be interesting to watch

His 2011/12 compared to his 2010/11 left many of us with a WTF GILLIS.

One good forward and/or defencemen and we are set.

I'd rather win next year 2013. F*** 2014 & 2015. ;)

I remember when the Cubs where marking one hundred years of not winning. They looked good enough that year but...alas...

To be completely honest... Unless the core changes, or at least the role of the current core players changes, I don't see it.

Last year was supposed to be it. The stars aligned. Everybody felt it, everybody knew it, that was our dominant season, that was the window.

I'm not trying to be negative and I'm still a big fan but I think we need to construct a new "window" for ourselves with a new core of players instead of trying to fit back into the old one. If the Sedins and Kesler don't play like they did in 2010-11, I don't see us getting it in the next few years; and something tells me they won't reach those levels of dominance again.

There's just not that -oomph- you need, I think. Elder has to be way better. Bieksa too. We need another legit top 4 dman, an actual second line; we need the guys we traded for to make a difference; we need freaking Kassian to play like we all know he can, but didn't.

Most of all, we need to be able to score more than 1.2 goals a game in the playoffs, our average vs. Boston and LA. That needs to pretty much double for us to really have a chance, no matter what defense or goalie we face.

We'll see, but I'm not optimistic, honestly.

Yes we can win it all within the next couple of years, but only if GMMG gets it right over the summer.

Sort out the goaltender issue, bring in a new right winger for the top line, a new second line centre and a new top 4 right handed D man.

Keep Kesler out until he is 100% recovered from surgery and properly conditioned. When he's ready, play him as 2nd line right winger. Let him shoot the passes he'll receive from a playmaking centre. Less time at the dot would probably be good for his shoulder anyway!

Other minor tweaks here and there with the roster, a wee bit of help from Lady Luck (for a change) and we're good to go!
