Is Jannik Hansen Ready For A Top-6 Role?

Hansen's point production disappeared when Hodgson left. He is very inconsistent, but him being a two-way winger might allow Kesler (and the temporary center) to play more offensively, so even if he isn't scoring, Kesler and Booth will be. I would prefer we find a better fit from free agency (bigger, bonafide threat), but he would be an improvement over Raymond.

I recall when he first debuted in a Canucks uniform back in 2007. While it may have only been ten playoff games and not enough time to assess him properly, he looked as though he had some real offensive potential, especially with his speed. He has been groomed to play a third line role, however, and I don't think he can deviate too much from his grinding style.

Jannik Hansen had a career year this past season with 16 goals and 23 assists while playing a checking role on the 3rd line. He's shown flashes of playmaking ability with some pretty sweet passes and is just entering his prime at the age of 26.

IMO he's ready to be given a chance at being a top-6 forward for Vancouver.

yeah i remember he looked really good and had top 6 potiential back than. Back AV wouldn't play him when he looked like that and benched him over players like Jeff Cowan, Brad Isibister, Ryan Shannon, and Bryon "PP specialist" Richie. He has since changed his style to a defensive role to be able to play under AV.

He's had a lot of success with the twins, and plays the same style of game as Booth, Higgins and Kesler, so would fit perfectly in a top-6 role. The problem is there are 6 forwards who are better than him right now, but if any of them drop off, expect to see Hansen bumped up. This guy gets better and better every season.

So much bias here.

Raymond played the majority of the season on the third line. Higgins played in favor of Raymond. Also, remember the fact that Hansen was not especially effective on the 2nd or 1st line, though he flourished on the 3rd.

It's not that AV doesn't like offensive players. He simply wants defensive responsibility to go with it. If you don't back check hard and play responsibly in your own end you lose ice time. He's done it with every prospect that's been brought up since he arrived.
