That ranks up there with who gives a sh*t! Sorry but anymore than one Russian on a team is simply trouble.

This is why, unless you do your homework, and the Russian you draft is committed to playing in North America you're taking a major risk in drafting Russian players.

For every Ovechkin there's 5-6 Filatov's.

not sure why he would be missed (bottom-feeders Columbus surely didn't miss him), after only playing nine (early-season) games with the playoff-bound Sens, who have

Michalek, Alfie, Foligno, Neil, Greening, Condra, Butler, etc. on the wings

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Jesus LOVES YOU!
2012, meet Matthew 24:36-47!

14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

The guy just fell apart. I remember he was a dominant player at the Wjc one year then spent some time in the NHL. Went back to the Wjc a year older and completely sucked. I blame the Cbj for his development.

This is why Columbus is so awful.
See
Filatov - Going to Russia
Zherdev - Russia or somewhere
Klesla (still playing but a disappointment for being 4th overall)
Leclaire - Washed up
Picard - Awful
Brule - Rushed and never panned out
Brassard - Not bad of a pick
Voracek - Traded who became Carter who became Johnson
Moore - We will see
Johansen - We will see
Nash - Still there but wants out

Awful drafting

makes you wonder i all teams not named the capitals will continue to draft russians when they keep going back to russia. i know id be a little gun shy about spending a 1st round pick on russians if theres no guarentee they were going to play here.

I wanted to see him and try and make something of himself in North America. Guess I'll never see that.

Watch Edmonton give the russians the cold shoulder and draft Ryan Murray 1st overall, then with the second pick Columbus takes Yakupov..... who then turns into an nhl bust and bolts back to Russia

IN his defence, (Filatov) I truly believe he wanted to play in the NHL. Columbus screwed up his developement, also doesn't help when HItchcock is going haywire on the young kid. I didn't think this will really happy. I really thought he was going to be an offensive player in the NHL. OH well.

Players Nikolaj Ehlers have been compared too by the fan base of the Vancouver Canucks.

1 Pavel Bure

2 Markus Naslund

3 Nathan Mackkinon

4 Jonathan Drouin.

5 Jonathan Tavares

combine results.  Ehlers 5'11 162 lbs of solid rock.

Filatov,
Zherdev, Klesla, Leclaire, Picard, Brule, Brassard, Voracek, Moore, Johansen, Nash

Awful drafting

On the contrary, that's some excellent drafting. Columbus is terrible at developing draftees, as you quite rightly stated with Brule. If Nash has Zherdev and Brule developed in the right way, with a solid Zlesla and Moore behind him, I doubt he wants to leave.

Ryan Murray's so overrated. Sure he's good but he choked in the wjc against Russia. Much more complete dmen available before him.

Bottomline is that Filatov's attitude was worse than Coho's.

Rick Dudley will be the next General Manager in Columbus once Howson goes. He was starting to turn Atlanta into a playoff contender. Gary Roberts should also be a candidate for a GM role somewhere because of his talent evaluation and skill in player development.

Columbus traded Filatov to Ottawa, don't you remember?

Filatov wanted very badly to play in the NHL, don't you remember that as well? Being drafted by Columbus is the worst thing that could happen for an NHL prospect. Look at all the great prospects they have seen go bust. It's like they don't even try.

At this point going back to Russia is the best thing for his career. He will develop better there than in the AHL. Don't be surprised if he comes back in a few years.
