"I sure hope we dont get him, he's a terrible role model and not part of our plan to win the cup."

"oh god, he better stay in the east. if he plays on X team, could you imagine a line of Semin - X - X?!?!? god forbid another competitive team actually go and try to acquire his talent! we'd be screwed whenever we play them!"

With all this hate, i wonder if anyone even knows Semin personally cause I don't but anyone with his kind of skill is intriguing. Could he be a cancer? A lazy player? Could be, but who's to say he can't change. It wasn't like Ovechkin was "leading" by example. Kovalchuk has turned his game around, and that makes me believe that anyone with that size, skill, speed has the potential to turn it around so there is no question about it, that several of teams should be interested.

I see New Jersey and Detroit as two teams, that can change his attitude and game. Fix it, and he could be a top 5 player in the league. It's completely arguable, but personally, I'd say, for sure, that he has the best shot in the game. Then of course, there are the desperate teams that will pay him big bucks to just score and do whatever simply because they need a skilled guy to draw crowds. That'd wont do anything to him as a player, but the last thing i want is him going to the KHL. He belongs in the NHL. He's a superstar.

Semin was one of the Capitals best playoff performers this season. Say what you want about his attitude, that was a long time ago. He played great this post-season, and we would be happy to have a guy with that much skill.

The Canucks have too many powerforwards right now, with Burrows, Booth, Higgins, Kesler, Kassian and Hansen all potential top-6 powerforwards. The only 2 skilled guys we have in our top-6 are the Sedins, and it showed in the playoffs last season when these big forwards couldn't score.

Semin would go great alongside Kesler and Booth - the absolute perfect combination of speed, skill and grit, and the Sedins would set up his rediculous snap shot on the powerplay.

Trade Ballard for picks, let Raymond walk and sign Semin for 5 million.

I think that Toronto will probably be throwing money towards Semin, and maybe if Columbus loses Rick Nash's contract, they will be able to lure Semin to play for them. In Columbus he would be the main offensive threat and allowed to be free which will do wonders for someone with a skillset like his.

On a side note, I wonder if there is any awkwardness between him and Ovi now at the World Championships because Semin just ditched Ovi's team...

I'm going to post this here like I did in the other thread that was locked.

Semin will sign with a team this year, be an absolute force in the league, be one of the most dangerous threats on the ice night in and night out with a real coach who believes in his abilities, and you will all eat your words.

Great teams NEED that one guy who can change a game just by his explosiveness and offensive abilities. A guy who can create a play and finish it BY himself. The Sedins are great players, but if one Sedin is off, the other is off as well. Semin can create chances for himself and, even if they are far in between, one prolific play in a game is what it takes to turn the momentum to your side.

Boston had their Ryder. Los Angeles has their Kopitar. Look at the Rangers, they have their Gaborik. A guy who can take the puck and do something magical with it by himself without the players around him. Sure, you always want to have character players, but character doesn't win you a cup alone. Skill does too. Character isn't always an individual thing, but it's a team thing too. If the team has a culture that emphasizes good character, then i'm not too worried about one guy like Semin who can go out there and win games based on skill alone.

Just my two cents

i wouldn't be surprised if he went to Anaheim. He would be under a coach in which he succeeded before and he would be in a smaller market, thus reducing the criticism he would receive. Bruce Boudreau is an offensive specialist and there is no way Semin wouldn't be attracted. Obviously, the money matters as well and Bob Murray probably would not pay for what he is asking. But there is always a possibility considering the offensive system and lack of criticism from fans and media.
