Here's a question I was pondering today - Are the Canucks the most successful NHL team to have never won a Stanley Cup? In 40+ years, three Stanley Cup Finals appearances, including two Game 7s, and two recent Presidents Trophy winners, not to mention numerous division titles.

It would seem that at least since the early 90s, this team has seen the most success without actually going all the way. It's kind of sad, to be so close, but never quite reach the end goal.

Probably. Its a god damn joke teams like LA have a path paved for them all the way to a cup. Vancouver's never had that type of help ever, and now LA is allowed all of a sudden to win their first cup ever, sick and tired of this crap.
I rather lose with the Canucks, than win with any other team

This is OUR year

LA will NOT win the cup this year. NYR is winning it.

The years '82 and '94 say hi. Some upsets there paved the way for the 'Nucks to make the finals.

Yep, we probably are.

Philly kinda shares our pain. They haven't won since 1975 despite having some pretty amazing teams, especially in the mid 80s.

What? LA beat us (#1 seed in the west) and St. Louis (#2 seed in the west) and they'll play NYR in the finals (#1 in the east). So, yeah, they've had an easy run...

i guess all i want right now is for kings to loose. which is probably not going to happen. but yes i think canucks is the team whose been to 3 finals the past 20 years and never won the cup, plus the team has been on the playoffs 9 x the past 11 seasons so yeah, sucks to have a successful, elite team, and still not get a cup. next season maybe?

The farthest they have made it is the conference final twice. And their record is 1-8 in that round.

Well they haven't won a cup so I don't know how you can say they're successful.

PS Don't come at me with the "2 presidents trophies and game 7 in the stanley cup finals argument" because I don't care and neither should you.

Keep in mind, (if I remember this correctly) during those first few years after expansion, the six expansion teams were in the same division. So they just had to win two series against other expansion teams to make the finals.

San Jose is the most successful team to never make the FINALS. :P

But for the OP, it's definitely us by a mile.

They actually made it there 3 times, but of course they lost.

The first time the Canucks got to the Cup, we were all saying how it was great to beat Calgary, but the Canucks weren't going to get by Edmonton unless LA pulled off the biggest upset ever, which they did.

The Canucks did not face a team which had finished the season with more points until they faced the Islanders in the finals. After Calgary (3 - 0), the Canucks beat LA (4 - 1), and Chicago (4 - 1) who beat the toughest teams in Campbell Conference (Edmonton and the North Stars). That was paving. If only Pittsburg had won that game 5 overtime game....

G.

I will St.Louis. They made it the finals 4 straight years, and lost each time, made the playoffs for 26 straight seasons, some damn good teams, not a Stanley cup.

Players Nikolaj Ehlers have been compared too by the fan base of the Vancouver Canucks.

1 Pavel Bure

2 Markus Naslund

3 Nathan Mackkinon

4 Jonathan Drouin.

5 Jonathan Tavares

combine results.  Ehlers 5'11 162 lbs of solid rock.

Well if you look at it, there is one of 2 teams, the kings will face in the finals, Devils or Rangers, and none of these teams, is a (Dynasty) type of team, like a team we had to face in 82. In fact I don't even think the Devils or Rangers is as good as our Vancouver Canucks of today.

You don't have a clue, do you?

Kings had to take out the top 2 seeds to get where they are. They're getting this one easy round, and then they'll likely have to face the top seed in the East when they're done here.

We totally had the red carpet laid out for us in 2003. The Blues had us by the balls, but then they all got the flu, and we squeaked out of the first round. The top 3 seeds (Dallas, Detroit, and Colorado) were all eliminated by other teams. We got a 3-1 lead on the 6th seeded Wild, and all we had to do was finish them off and take out the 7th seeded Ducks... ...but the boys choked harder than pretty much any team has choked before in the history of choking.

THAT was far more help than LA has had. THAT was a freakin red carpet.

Sorry but I don't see anyone beating LA, the rangers have played terrible at times in these playoffs. the series against Washington they played solid the whole time, and they looked great the other night against the Devils...but LA as steam rolled teams way better than what the East has had to offer this playoffs
