[Report] - Jason Garrison : Canucks High On His List If Panthers Don't Resign Him

Recommended Posts

I don't know if we have access to his goals distribution throughout last year. Other teams didn't know about his shot so they weren't paying him much attention. When you are playing against Campbell on the PK, you know who you should watch out for. I'm sure once teams became aware of FL's PP and his slapshot, his goals production dropped significantly.

Sign him as a good defenseman, not necessarily as a PP specialist as well.

I don't know much about Garrison, but from what I've read here it sounds like he'd be a great addition. He shouldn't be another "Ballard" because he plays on the right side, despite having a left-handed shot. He can take over Salo's position with Edler, allowing us to roll two very solid defence pairings.

Looking at Garrison's stats he is a physical shot blocking machine and plays big minutes against big players in all situations. In a limited sample of 4 playoff games he had 3 points (1G, 2A), 12 hits, and averaged 25:11, all the while being their 2nd best penalty killer on defence (time-wise) and getting a good chunk of power play time.

Aside from what you guys have said and deductions I can make from his statistics I have no idea how well he actually plays. Anyone with solid insight?

If your going to spend that kind of money, go after a player who has a better track record and stronger pedigree. 1 solid year doesn't have me sold on signing Garrison to a lucrative deal, and this team already has bad enough contracts with Ballard, Luongo, Booth strangely all ex-panthers. lets not make Garrison another mistake...
