If we sign him to 3m+ we would have the most expensive defence in the leauge lol.

Hopefully MG doesnt go crazy and offer him money he wont live up to (ehem Bieksa,Malhotra) because he had a breakout year last season.

this could work out nice but only if:

1) Salo retires

2) Ballard is traded

strong guy with huge shot would take Salo's spot on powerplay and he is capable of playing top 4 minutes. Not to mention that he really wants to play here, i dont think you can say no to a guy like that.

Good article: http://canucksarmy.com/2012/5/16/jason-garrison-tells-vancouver-radio-station-that-joining-the-canucks-would-be-a-thrill

Anyone have the audio? His comments are interesting, he must be throwing out feelers to Van?

I didn't realize he played on the right side this whole season - not many guys can play on their offside and put up the kind of underlying numbers he did. He's highly versatile: can play on his offside, can play a shut down role, can play an offensive role, drives play, physical, shot blocker, can play on PP and PK. Basically he'd be, by far, the Canucks most versatile d-man - somewhere AV is drooling.

Bob McKenzie created a list of the most sought after UFA d-men this summer according to NHL GM's, Garrison was near the top. Therefore, he could get lots of $$ in FA - but he'd have to take a pay cut to play in Van ($3M - $3.5M). They'd have to get rid of Ballards/Alberts contracts (clearing up $5.425M of cap space) - basically, he'd make both of them redundant.

2012-13 roster ($21M) would be cheaper than 2011-12 roster ($22M) - thus leaving room to re-up Edler next yr:

Hamhuis- Bieksa

Edler- Garrison ($3.5M)

Grags ($1.1M)- Tanev

Rome ($1.225M) - Salo ($1.75M)

That's a dangerous d-men roster.
