4 years @ $3.5M per. He'll probably be leaving about $0.5M on the table, but he'll have to take a bit of a discount to play in Van. Mind you, the cap is only going to rise, so in a two years he'll be a steal.

Ballard and Luongo for Methot and Derrick Brassard

I hope you're joking.

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

banking on one good season is risky business.

I like Garrison but with the pricetag he may gather doesn't exactly thrill me.

If MG signs this guy both Salo and Ballard have to go. Is apparently comfortable playing right side, but I've heard that before. No way would he come here to play bottom 2 minutes. It would, however, open up some interesting possibilities in a year's time when Edler's contract is up and Weber becomes a UFA.

Team needs a big shot from the point in the worst way.

Get Schultz too and go heavy on BC defense. More likely to spill their guts for the home team.

Not even about his shot, this guy seems like a guy built for the playoffs. Seems like a big and tough guy that can play big playoff minutes

Best case scenerio:

- Salo rides off into the sunset happy.
- Ballard gets packaged with Raymond for anything.

That clears up 8m+ cap space, enough to even make a decent offer to Suter :bigblush: jk
- Sign Garrison to a 4 year contract
- Sign J.Schultz

Hamhuis - Bieksa
Edler - Garrison
Schultz - Tanev

While he has had a good year, I am not convinced he is the solution. It is the lack of goal scoring that has killed us in the post season and i think that needs to be addressed before anything else

I would do that trade in a heartbeat. Finally get back a playmaking centre for the second line. A guy that can dish the puck to kes and booth so we actually get more than 2 goals in a playoff game! I would probably want John Moore instead of Methot though.

Comparing Garrison to Ballard is not a good reference.

IMO Ballard was never worth $4.2M. Before coming to Van, his underlying numbers were extremely inconsistent from yr to yr - an indicator you never know what you're gonna get. He was never good with puck possession - he struggled mightily. Van is a puck possession team, guys who struggle with that skill stick out like a sore thumb (hence Ballard and Edlers issues this yr).

Garrison only has 2 full seasons in the NHL, but his underlying numbers have improved significantly every yr (similar to Tanev). He's the best puck possession d-man on their team (on a team 18th in the league w/ puck possession). He drives play, and plays against toughest completion - he does not play sheltered mins (a la Ballard). His biggest asset is his versatility - the only current 'somewhat versatile' Canuck is Rome. Garrison can do it all: PP, PK, play a shut down role or offensive flair role. He can move up and down the lineup at any time. He's a very valuable asset. I don't think he's gonna score 16 goals again, but he's probably a 30+ pt d-man on a Vancouver team for sure. I'd rather see Gillis take a gamble on a versatile guy like Garrison than a one trick pony.

Lol. I should have said 'Rome can play on his offside'. Edler and Hamhuis have not played on their offsides in the last 2 yrs. I don't ever recall them playing on their offsides. It makes Rome versatile to Av anyways, I think it's one reason why Av's in love with him - he can play effectively ( a low event style) on either side. It's also why I think AV will fall in love with Garrison :)

I hope you were joking as well - bringing in an idiot like Patrick Kane and depending on two rookies as the third pairing - glass houses, Mullet.

He would be a depth signing. But it looks real good on him to see he averaged 23 minutes a game, and on a team that ended up in the playoffs. A depth signing, not a longer term solution. We ARE looking for a top 2 dman. , but he will only be worth it for under 2.5 million.

"hes from BC " boners away..

lolz!!!

Players Nikolaj Ehlers have been compared too by the fan base of the Vancouver Canucks.

1 Pavel Bure

2 Markus Naslund

3 Nathan Mackkinon

4 Jonathan Drouin.

5 Jonathan Tavares

this is a disaster in the making....anything above a 3 million cap hit over 2 seasons will be too big of a risk for my liking.....if you're going to throw big money at a UFA make sure he has proven himself for more than 1 season......

Salo will not be back with the Canucks next year, he will sign with another team as he has stated his desire to play another season. Salo's time with the Canucks is up. MG knows this team needs to get tougher overall and especially on the back end. Ballard will probably be traded. MG will most likely try to sign Garrison and Shultz and I wouldn't be surprised if he got both of them. I don't think MG will go after Suter because the price will be too high and Suter will most likely stay in US.

I think Garrison will sign a 3 to 4 year deal at approx 4 mill per year. I don't see him taking a home town discount because Garrison hasn't made a lot of money so far in his career. This will be his first chance to make serious money and he'd be foolish not to cash in.

I don't know if you are a homer or just plain dumb. Patrick Kane is an elite talent that would push this team over the top. As for Tanev he is no longer a rookie. As for Connauton, he is very close to being NHL ready. He also has a 90mph slapper too. Btw when him and Tanev were the Wolves' top pairing, the two of them lit it up.

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

He's going to be getting a 3yr 4.5mil deal. It's essentially what the Canucks signed Willie Mitchell for when the cap was lower (3.5mil at the time)
